Light Sabers
Even with the great success of Episode III, we know that one of the biggest reasons we go to see a Star Wars movie, play a Star Wars game, or buy one of the DVD’s is to be part of a great lightsaber battle.  We all want one (just listen to your inner geek), and one day - who knows - it may be possible. Wikipedia gives us some background on several aspects of the lightsaber that you may not have known.

Revenge of the Sith

This weeks edition of The Final Cut, Devin takes a look at Episode III. Last week she gave us a look at the various season finales taking place on television:

This week we’ll take a look at Star Wars Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, a movie which hits theaters on Thursday, May 19th, and will have many theaters featuring a 12:01am showing to accommodate eager fans.  Revenge of the Sith is the third and final installment of the Star Wars prequels and will bridge the gap between the Star Wars movies of the past 6 years and the original Star Wars, which was released in 1977.  All 6 films in the Star Wars series have been produced by George Lucas.  Lucas also has writing credits on all 6, and he directed Episodes, I, II, and III.

Revenge of the Sith

In this week’s edition of “The Final Cut”, Devin takes a look at some of the upcoming films hitting theaters in the next few weeks. Last week she gave us a look at the background of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. The summer movie season it at the helm, y’all:

The month of May is here, and with it comes the beginning of the summer movie season.  We’ve got many great films to look forward to this summer, and May is no exception, giving us something to look forward to each Friday.  From Mindhunters, a movie that finished filming in May 2002 and has had many release dates in the past years(I actually first saw the trailer to this when I saw Bad Santa at the theater), to the highly anticipated Star Wars Episode III - Revenge of the Sith on May 19th, May certainly has more then enough to draw anyone to the theater.  Here is a run down of what first two Fridays of what May has to offer:

Delicious Library WidgetTiger has been out in the wild for about four days now, which is just enough time for Apple die hards to have dug into the OS to try out every new feature. If you are left with nothing else to do, Apple has your hook up. They have released a series of download pages where you can grab new Dashboard widgets, Spotlight plugins, and Automator actions. If that’s not enough, you can also check out the QuickTime 7 movie download page, which features content in high definition, taking advantage of that H.264 codec.

Hitchhikers Guide GalaxyTime for another weekly column, Gear Live style. Our new columnist, Devin Roberson, will be bringing you the latest from the entertainment world each week in her column, The Final Cut. Why Devin? Well, for starters she is into movies and television. Secondly, she jives with our steelo. This week she gives us a bit of background on The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy:

This Friday gives us the release of “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”, a movie based on a 1978 radio comedy series by Doug Adams, who also wrote the screenplay(along with Karey Kirkpatrick) for this film.  Many fans of the Guide may also remember Adams’ “trilogy” of 5 books(the series was first dubbed a trilogy after the release of the 3rd book, and the title has stuck ever since) that he began writing shortly after the radio series: The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy (1979), The Restaurant at the End of the Universe (1980), Life, the Universe, and Everything (1982), So Long and Thanks For All the Fish (1984), and Mostly Harmless (1992).

MPAA NYPDThe New York Post, which is not the most accurate source in the world, is reporting that the Motion Picture Association of America might have possibly tipped of the NYPD to the locations of illegal street vendors selling pirated versions of their movies. Nothing wrong with that. The sticky part is that it is being reported that they then offered gratuities to officers if and when they made the arrests. That is the illegal part. Two officers are currently under investigation, and the MPAA is denying any wrongdoing.
