Google My Search HistoryYou were looking for certain information on the web. After several attempts using different words and phrases with your favorite search engine, you finally have found the required information but, as it happens, forgot to bookmark the pages. In a few days when you needed to check out the same pages again, to your utter dismay, you realized that you couldn’t recall how you searched out those pages. Sounds familiar? If you are like me, you probably face this problem quite frequently! Finding the right page link you are seeking from the browser’s history feature, out of hundreds of pages that you have visited recently, is not easy either! More over, browser’s history page remembers where you have been as you browse the web for a limited time only. Things may be a little easier if you use Google Desktop search or similar tools from other search engines, but again if you don’t always use the same computer, even this might not be of much help.

Joan of Arcadia

The third week of May was a sad time for many television viewers. That was the week when the major television networks announced what new shows would be hitting our screens in the fall, but more importantly, what shows had been canceled.  While some of you may have been sad to see your favorite shows get the axe, many devoted fans of CBS’s “Joan of Arcadia” decided that just because their favorite show had been declared dead didn’t mean it couldn’t be revived.  While many viewers who are upset about a shows’ cancellation settle for signing an online petition that probably won’t even be seen by a network executive, one viewer decided that simply would not be enough and created the website www.savejoanofarcadia.com in an effort to help give the show a second chance at life.

Macrovision Robert Ellison InterviewMacrovision is in the business of helping content creators keep their works safe from being pirated, providing enterprise level DRM solutions. They recently did a survey on video game piracy, and found that up to 40% of gamers have pirated a game at least once. They have a few very interesting ideas going forward to protect content, such as inserting what are essentially little bugs into games that will self-recognize they have been pirated, changing the game mechanic altogether. We chat with Robert about this and more. Click here to download the MP3, or you can just subscribe to the Gear Live Podcast feed.

Box.net PodcastOnline storage has increased, decreased, then increased again in popularity over the years. When Google dropped Gmail on us, hacks appeared that allowed one to use the free gig of storage for more than just email. Aaron Levie noticed a need for a good online storage medium, and the result is Box.net. Gear Live tested the service out a while ago, and came away impressed. Box.net is much more than just storage space for your files. We got a chance to chat with Aaron about how Box.net came about, its current features, and where it is headed in the future. Gears of War

This week I had a discussion about the impending PS3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo Revolution where I emphasized over and over again “We play the games not the specs sheet”. Having gotten that mantra out of the way there are some fascinating possibilities that this massive shift in computing and graphical power would bring to the video game world. Jacob from 8bitjoystick.com takes a look at the upcoming shift in the home console gaming experience in his column this week.

The Longest Yard

The last Friday in May brings us a remake of a popular 1974 football film, an animated film from the people who gave us the Shrek movies, and a couple of films most of us won’t get to see, due purely to our location. Wayans Brothers The Dozens

So the Wayans Brothers are here at E3 to promote their new trading card/cell phone game “The Dozens”. It is basically a game where you swap “Your momma” jokes with a friend (or stranger for that matter), and score points based on the originality or hilarity of the diss. We got a few moments to speak with Shawn and Marlon Wayans about The Dozens, but they were more interested in making fun of all the E3 schwag I had on me. Click here to download the MP3, or you can just subscribe to the Gear Live Podcast feed. Pardon the yelling - E3 is loud.

Revenge of the Sith

This weeks edition of The Final Cut, Devin takes a look at Episode III. Last week she gave us a look at the various season finales taking place on television:

This week we’ll take a look at Star Wars Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, a movie which hits theaters on Thursday, May 19th, and will have many theaters featuring a 12:01am showing to accommodate eager fans.  Revenge of the Sith is the third and final installment of the Star Wars prequels and will bridge the gap between the Star Wars movies of the past 6 years and the original Star Wars, which was released in 1977.  All 6 films in the Star Wars series have been produced by George Lucas.  Lucas also has writing credits on all 6, and he directed Episodes, I, II, and III.
