The Vaja iVod Video cases for the 5th generation iPod with video are impressive, and this one was made using the Vaja Choice service. First impressions count, and as you can see, the product was custom-made with Gear Live orange and gray taking center stage. Alright peeps, we have yet another opportunity for anyone out there to walk away with an Xbox 360, courtesy of Gear Live. We are looking to see what our readers can come up with in terms of creating a simple video game. We just made one ourselves, and despite not having any previous coding knowledge, we are pretty happy with the way Tennis Challenge turned out. Yeah, it may appear to be a Pong rip, but we made it our own. Now it’s your turn. Here is how it’s gonna go down:

• Download the game we created in Visual Studio Express, Gear Live’s Tennis Challenge
• Download Visual Studio Express. This also enters you in the Upgrade Your Game Sweepstakes.
• Create a game from scratch, or edit one of the game templates that Visual Studio Express gives you.
• Let us know about your game. Blog about it and link us to it. Let us know on our forums. All games will be made available for public download.
• The contest ends on June 23, 2006, but seriously, it took us all of ten minutes to create Tennis Challenge. Of course, we want you to do better than we did.
• We will choose a winner, and that person walks away with a brand new Xbox 360.

Now, this contest is open only to Gear Live members. Of course, signing up is completely free, and takes all of ten seconds. If you have a forum account, you are already a member. Now, go ahead and get to work on creating a game - we want to see just how creative you guys can be. Oh, and we have this extra Xbox 360 that needs a home.

What to get for your budding engineer offspring?  How about a hydrogen fuel cell toy car?  Horizon Fuel Cell Technologies has patented a toy car with its own hydrogen fuel cell and requisite hydrogen fueling station.  The fueling station uses solar energy to power the process of producing hydrogen from water via electrolysis and is complete with flashing blue LEDs (to excite the young scientist of course).  From there the hydrogen can be transfered to the car’s fuel cell for powering its electric motor.  Since the amount of hydrogen used is rather small, the process is quite safe and is an interesting look at where the future of automotive power may lay.

Not currently available, the toy car is rumored to be priced at $80 when released.  One thing that’s interesting to note is that per Horizon’s brochure, the fueling station is listed as being sold seperately.  That seems a bit odd for something fairly pivotal to the whole concept.

Faintly reminiscent of those Hypercolor t-shirts from the early 90’s are the Moving Color glass tiles that change color with exposure to heat.  The tiles are available in eight base-coat colors, carry a one-year warranty, and are suitable for use in any kind of installation where they will come into contact with water.  You can install the tile in a shower as shown in the picture above, or another application that depicted on their website is where a radiant heat source is installed behind the tile, causing it to change colors without any apparent external stimuli. 

Pricing starts at $25 USD per 4-inch square tile, and the only downside we can see (besides the price) is the potential life-span, or lack thereof.  The website is quoted as saying that the “Reaction life of moving color has been witnessed as exceeding 7 years.”  Assuming you may only get 7-10 years worth of color-changing goodness from the tile, it seems a bit steep for the money.  Then again, you may be tired of the look within just a few years so the life-span may be a moot issue.

The idea behind the project is to completely custom-build a computer case out of stainless steel, having it end up looking similar to an atomic bomb that one might find on a show like 24. If you are in New York City, you owe it to yourself to head on down to the new Fifth Avenue Apple Store. Apple’s new flagship retail location opened for business just a couple of hours ago, and it is a beauty. Customers braved horrible weather to be one of the first to enter the magical glass cube, including guests from as far away as Scotland. Aside from the glass cube structure, the other unique feature of the store is that it is mostly underground. The subterranean levels feature iPod, Mac computers, and a large array of accessories for customers to mess around with before they buy. The Genius Bar will have dedicated Studio and iPod sections with full-time staff of 96 people available to help. The store will be open 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.

As for the glass - let’s just hope that the Apple Store Fifth Avenue isn’t as prone to scratches as the iPod, kay?

Since the Gear Live and Bleeding Edge crew has spent the past week in our travels to and from E3, this one seems more than appropriate. Boeing has released some shots of the interior of their new luxury aircraft, the Boeing 787. Looking at the images, this thing is a beauty - and would have been much more enjoyable than flying on our smaller jet via Alaska Airlines. The new place features nice, wide aisles, dynamic lighting, and larger overhead bins available throughout the aircraft. Even better, there will be area that are designed to make the air traveler feel more at home with their flight experience.
