Yurbuds Ironman Inspire Pro headphone review

Yurbuds Ironman Inspire Pro

Yurbuds is fairly new to the headphone game, but they focus on attacking a core issue that any earbud user has faced--they promise to be the first earbud that will stay in your ear, while remaining comfortable to wear for long periods of time, thanks to what it calls TwistLock technology that creates a secure fit which keeps them falling out no matter how intense the workout.. The Yurbuds Ironman Inspire Pro also feature a 3-button remote and microphone, so you can control your music and phone calls directly. The earbuds are made from ultra soft silicone to maximize comfort. Do they live up to that promise? Join us in our Yurbuds Inspire Pro headphones review to find out.

VIDEO REVIEW

BACKGROUND
We got our first look at Yurbuds at CES 2012 earlier this year, where the company brought in parkour expert, Kyle "Epic" Mendoza, who did flips around the room while wearing a pair. I think I may have a small ear canal or maybe I have a big one, I really have no idea but I do know that I can never get a pair of earbuds to fit in my ear just right. I am not a natural runner or an especially fit person, so it is incredibly distracting to me that one ear always seems to pop out with traditional earbuds - it can ruin my workout and give me a great excuse to just stop running. I've tried the standard set that came with my iPhone and had problems and I've tried other earbuds that include several sizes, but none ever felt like a good fit and they continued to pop out. All that said, it was a tall order when we were told that the YurBuds would stay in the ear regardless of the physical activity you were doing.

USING THE YURBUDS INSPIRE PRO HEADPHONES

Yurbuds Inspire Pro review

We gave the Inspire Pro model a try, and we instantly knew that these would be keepers. There are clear instructions provided on how to use the TwistLock technology for that secure fit, and even a YouTube video that explains exactly where the ear tube should be placed just in case the covers come off and you have to add them back on. The Inspire Pros are also sweatproof and waterproof, although I don't get sweaty enough while running that anything is dripping into my ear.

While the fit was great, there were a couple of issues with the Inspire Pro headphones that we wanted to touch on. First, the cable isn't tangle-free. I used them a lot during the course of the review--for every call on my phone as well as while working out--and found that just by putting them in my purse or pocket, they'd become a tangled mess, and it is always frustrating when I have to unravel them. This is something that could (and should) be easily fixed with future versions.  Oddly, the cheaper model has cloth-covered cabling, and those are tangle-free. I also notice when using the Yurbuds Inspire Pro during a call that the microphone is overly sensitive. I have to be sure to clip it in a place that it will not rub on my clothes at all, because we've received feedback from callers that it is very distracting and sounds like we're in a wind storm.  Once I discovered this and make sure to clip high on my shoulder, I have no issues with the mic.

FINAL VERDICT
All in all, we would definitely recommend the Yurbuds Inspire Pro headphones, and have already told friends and colleagues about them. For $60, the price is reasonable. I've used them every day for 6 months, and they are still going strong. You can pick up the Yurbuds Inspire Pro on Amazon for $42, saving substantially from the regular $59.99 price.
