Wow, we didn’t even think we would make it to the top ten, but thanks to you readers, we are in the running! The TechWeb Blog-X Awards are now open for voting, and Gear Live is one of the ten choices that you can elect as the best independent tech blog of 2005. We have some stiff competition among us, so if you like what we do here, be a gem and give us a vote. Heck, we aren’t in it for the $500 Starbucks gift card, but the added readership would sure open up a lot more opportunities for content across our network.

Isn’t GearLive a part of the i4u.com network? Therefore can it be counted as an independent blog?

Being in the I4U Network, and being an independent tech blog are unrelated. I run, own, and maintain Gear Live out of my home. I do not have employees, and we are certainly independent. In fact. I4U.com is independent as well.
I think if Gizmodo can be in the running, which is backed by Gawker Media, we can as well
