Ten One Design Magnus Magnetic iPad Stand review

Magnus magnetic ipad stand review

The Apple Smart Cover is a convenient way to protect the display of your iPad, and can also double as a simple stand. However, there are times where you'd prefer to have something a little more sturdy, and a little more elegant, and that's where something like the Ten One Design Magnus Magnetic Stand for iPad comes in. The Magnus is a magnetic stand that works with the new iPad, as well as with the iPad 2, and even the original. I was able to get my hands on one and have been testing it for a bit. It's really a simply-but-elegant product, so there isn't much to it. How does it work, and will it fit in with your workflow? Head on down for our full review of the Magnus to find out!

The Magnus iPad stand really doesn't look like much once you unbox it, but that's actually much of the point. The beauty here is in its simplicity. It allows the iPad to take center stage, sporting a minimalist profile. By itself, it's an unassuming slab of aluminum that doesn't look out of place on a desk. In fact, it looks fairly striking.

To use the Magnus, you slip the iPad in horizontally, with the Home button facing the right-hand side. This ensures that the magnets along the left of the iPad are in contact with the stand, thus holding the tablet perfectly in place. From this position, it’s easy to use the iPad to view content. I used it to watch YouTube clips, and also to keep OmniFocus, my task manager, right next to me at all times. Tapping on the display was totally fine, as the device is nice and solid, and thusly kept the iPad firmly in place during use.

The Magnus Magnetic Stand for iPad costs $49, but due to its popularity, it's sold out regularly on the Ten One Design Web site. However, we did find it available on Amazon for a couple bucks less. We like the product and recommend it whole-heartedly. It's high quality, looks good, and works perfectly.
