Sony’s Flash Based Walkmans

Sony NW505

Last month there was a rumor about Sony’s latest flash memory based MP3 player. Sony officially launched the beautiful MP3 player to challenge Apple’s iPod Shuffle. The MP3 player is available in three flavors, 256MB, 512MB or 1GB and sports a 3 line OLED screen. Sony claims that some of its newer models can generate three hours of playback on a three minute charge! You can expect a 256MB version to set you back $133.84 (100 euros) and the 1GB to run about $321.22 (200 euros).

although it’s nice to see more flashed based players…and hopefully the competition will move prices lower faster, but that thing is UGLY! It looks like a tech screwdriver or something…

I love the look of it!  The battery life is supposed to be amazing, it’s tiny, and the OLED is sweet.  I just recently bought a flash player with an OLED screen and I couldn’t be more happy with it.  Great technology.

i think it looks great. its hard to judge the size, but being sony, that thing is probably tiny.

3 hours on a 3 minute charge?!?!?!

Althought the price is more than double the cost of a 1GB Ipod Shuffle—

Its a Sony Balony right? Whats the catch? There is always something that they hide until you buy it and then find out.  Do they force you to convert your mp3s to their format? Do they force you to use their software?  When ever I hear Sony I know there is a catch. And how come it does not have a clip addon?
