Silver 80GB iPod on October 12, No Video
Man, Apple just knows how to get the ol’ Internets all riled up, don’t they? Now it seems that, according to Think Secret, there will not be an iPod video unveiling at the October 12 press show. Instead, they think we can expect small upgrades to the current iPod line which would include an 80GB iPod, and a new silver color option. We should also expect updates Power Macs and PowerBooks. Now, call me crazy, but isn’t 80GB just a tad large for an iPod that is solely dedicated to music? Time will tell.

The future is PMPs, why doesn’t apple realize that? I rather have a 40GB video player than a double capacity mp3 player.

Tad large? You can’t even fit most power music enthusiast’s library into 80GB!!

If you want a PMP today, then it’s the Archos with 100GB+ options that’ll do everything ... at a price.
Cheaper, then you’ll have to get a 2.5” or 3.5” Divx/MP3/etc. HD enclosure online, then stick at fat HD into that, dump everything into it, and hook it up to your TV (or portable TV) at home. It’ll let you store =everything= on a single HD and get rid of your problem with swapping discs completely.

So, what we want is already out and available today, just at a price we don’t want to pay for it.

Is it just me or is everyone sick of hearing about the iPod? Everywhere I look someone has one, or there’s *that* advert on TV. I turn to my boyfriend for an iPod free zone, and what does he do? He goes and buys one! Being the lovely girlfriend that I am, and a dedicated reviewer I just had to try it. I owe my fellow members a detailed review on this ‘wonderous’ piece of machinery to see what all the hype is about. Despite my cynicism, I was pleasantly
surprised….
