Reports of Motorola Droids Not Sending MMS

Motorola DROID MMSUpdate: It looks like we’ve found the culprit - How to fix the Motorola DROID MMS bug.

It seems to be few and far between at this point, but stemming from an unfortunate first-hand series of events, we’ve investigated and found a few unhappy Verizon Wireless customers out there who are experiencing an annoying problem:  MMS’ are being sent and being rejected with the error message: “You have entered an invalid address.”

The problem seems to be intermittent and with no discernable pattern.  Reports show customers who are inflicted with the problem are unable to send to certain numbers but are able to send to others.  Our first-hand experience involved attempting to send pictures to a quarter of the address book before giving up and calling tech support.  Oddly enough, the first successful picture message sent on this particular Droid went to the guy from Verizon’s Wireless Data Technical Support team who was helping us to fix the problem.  We were able to receive MMS from the numbers we tried, but failed receiving from another of Verizon’s Customer Support reps.

Posts on Android’s and Motorola’s support forums found that there was no workaround yet, but some of those who swapped out for a new Droid had no problems with the new phone.

Is anyone else having this problem?  Verizon, Motorola, and Google definitely have not spoken up yet, so we don’t know how many people are calling about the problem, but there are a few out there.  For all we know, it could be a small glitch.  Drop a comment and let us know.

No problems at all with MMS…...I´m able to send / receive with my Droid.

The only problem I had was I couldnt get a 3g signal to set up my g mail account. It turned out to be the anti scratch pieces for the screen. I called verizon and they told me to take it off and it worked fine.

I have the Eris… and when I try to send a pic it says the file is too big… on every pic. Been researching how to fix it and keep coming up short. x_x

This is not true.  I have seen other places that have reported selling out of the store within the first few hours.  And the Droid is an amazing device.  Don’t get me wrong, the iPhone is of course amazing.  But this writes like the iPhone has NEVER had issues or something.  There may just be a bad batch out there if new phones can be swapped with no more issues.

Yes, I can confirm that none of my Droids (I have two) is able to send MMS to each other or my brother’s iPhone. It seems that during the send process I get the “wait” circle and nothing goes through. Also the 3G icon changes to G. I will have to call tech support later to see if they have a solution to this!!! It is annoying at this point…

I’m able to send pictures, video and text via MMS but not audio files - there’s simply no options to attach an audio file to the message.

I used the MMS feature on all my other PLAIN cell phones.  I was able to send a pic as well as attaching an audio file in the same message.  Cant someone come up with an APP?  This is the ONLY drawback for me with this phone.  Otherwise I love it.  I am real close to going back to an ordinary phone.

This is odd, but I was having trouble sending MMS messages, and typed in the problem into google, just as your page arrived, two of my MMS messages I have attempted sending for 2 solid days sent. It was like the hiccup magically fixed. However, will this hiccup remain, I have yet to see. If it does, I see myself calling to complain right away!

I’m having a problem sending Pic via messaging, thing is I’ve already sent this pic a couple days ago. Everything else about my Droid seems fine. Thank for any help.

I’m having trouble sometimes with MMS. The screen to send the photo will come up, but when I hit send it force closes and every time I try to reopen my messaging application it force closes until I restart the phone. Probably going to see if they’ll swap my phone out for a new one, been having a few other constant force close problems, too. Other than that the phone is amazing!!

No one has received any of the pictures I’ve tried to send via MMS taken with the Droid phone.  I bought mine the first day, last one they had.
