New Years Ball on Display All Year

New Years BallYou probably caught the Times Square New Years Ball on TV last night, but now you can visit it at a later date. The organizers have announced that it will be a permanent attraction for the entire year. The globe is a 12 ft. geodesic sphere and weighs almost 12,000 lbs. It is about twice the size of previous ones. The ball is covered with a Waterford Crystal design named “Let There Be Joy” and Philips’ 32,256 Luxeon Rebel LEDs that create more then 16 million colors in billions of patterns. Oddly enough, we watched last night and only got to see about 3 of them.
