Belco is the latest company to unveil their netbook, the full-flash Alpha 400. It certainly is basic with its 7-inch display, 128MB RAM, 1GB internal memory, a 400MHz MIPS processor, a 10/100 MB Ethernet interface, and WiFi connectivity. It also has a SDHC memory card slot for another 32GB of storage and runs on Linux. Let’s not forget it works as an e-book, MP3 and game player and has installed business software. You can get the netbook for way-cheap. Try $169.95.

Most of the complaints about this little machine seem to revolve around its limitations. I also own an Eee and an Acer Aspire One, and I have to say that 99.99% of the time I use a Netbook, this machine could do what is needed.
Not for games, but for checking mail and light browsing it works great.
The 802.11b is certainl fast enough, since it is far faster than most internet links.
I also have a Cobalt Qube2, since it is also a MIPS CPU I can compile for the Alpha on that platform, so any software for which I can get the source code can be compioled to runon the Alpha, within its hardware limitations.
If money is a factor, this is a bargain.

I agree with the commenter above, netbooks get a bad rap from people who have unrealistic expectations of them. i use mine for what it can handle. i actually also own an aspire one, and i added an SSD drive (from here http://bit.ly/denWzK) to address my space concerns and I’ve loved mine ever since.
Hard to believe that a Belco is going for under $170…jeez, I feel like picking one up just because of the price.
