Samsung SCH-W880 12 megapixel cameraphone

Samsung SCH-W880

has followed up their Pixon 12 or M8910 with the SCH-W880 or M8920.  This new model is essentially like the first, which is a cellular phone with a camera that is much better than most cell phone cameras. In fact, it’s a lot more like a digital camera that also happens to have phone capability as well.

The SCH-W880 comes with a 12 megapixel sensor, as well as a mode dial, shutter, zoom, Xenon flash, and HD video at 30fps.  It also has a 3.3 inch AMOLED WGA screen with Wi-Fi, GPS, and , as well as a microSD slot.

There is no word when this will come out, nor a price, but it will have a Korean release when it does. Yeah, we’re jealous.

I find it all very well and good have 12 mp but, the human eye cannot see past 10mp. So, what is the point in anything more powerful?! Is it not just a marketing ploy to make the general public spend and follow the latest technology and ‘trends’?

From someone not won over by this phone

How can you possibly say the human eye can’t see more than 10 MP??

What if I want to take a picture and blow it up to a poster for the side of my building?  You honestly think a 10 MP image is gonna be a good option?

What if I want to take said 10 MP image and crop out a portion of it (to compensate for the 3x zoom) say I take a quarter of the image ... you think you won’t be able to tell the difference between a 10 MP image and a 15?

You should probably consider the possibilities before you make comments that are clearly untrue and just bad press based on companies not wanting to push the MP higher.

12 megapixel camera, shutter, zoom, Xenon flash, and HD video at 30fps…
I like this phone !!!
