This phone is pretty cool but when u try to download ringtones from the Internet it won’t let you it’s really dumb so I’m guessing you can only use the ringtones they have on the phone which is retarted. If they expect people to buy this phone they better get with the program.

There ‘s a trick to downloading ringtones with this phone.  The browser doesn’t let you which stinks but the work around is easy.  Download the ringtone on your computer then email it to yourphonenumber@mms.mycricket.com .  You’ll receive the message on your phone as an mms message and have the option to save the file and set it as a ring tone.

I just got mine the other day and noticed a glitch in the calendar.  When I create a new event and set the end time more than 30 minutes out the phone switches it back to 30 minutes from the start time.  I absolutely can not create an event with more than a 30 minute duration.

Anyone else seeing this ?

Another complaint I have about this phone is that I haven’t yet figured out how to make it hang up when I slide it closed.  The result is I have to slide the phone closed then press the disconnect button. 

Anyone got a fix for that?

I have a similar problem every time I buy a new phone.  I have to hard reboot the phone (As in remove the battery) and after doing that my text messages always come back up.

Eric, try going to settings, then phone settings, then option 8 is “slide close” select that and make sre “end task” is selected. Hope this helps!!

i jus got this phone and its ok.. but when i recieve a mms i get a link and a code. when i go to it and enter it all it still wont go through. when i try to send a mms it always fails. and i do have pic msgin on my phone. help!!

I just purchased this phone, and I “test drove” it beforehand, making sure that it would pull up everything I wanted.  However, now that I have purchased it, in my browser, I am getting nothing but errors.  Telling me about Javascript and so forth.  Has anyone else experienced this issue?  I am looking to find a workaround on this.  PLEASE HELP!

TXTM8 is a good phone for the most part. But why the complications with sending your picture mail to the internet?? Better yet, why can’t we recieve it on the actual phone? Ringtones are a little more simple but this is a major flaw in the creation of this new phone. It seems like everyone experincing difficulties with this phone has not approved of the new changes and it may not be worth as nearly as half as much as it should. I haven’t had any complications so far, I’ve only had it about 3 days now. But if anyone has information of how to find a loop hole and recive picture mail on this phone, please contact me at my e mail.

Picture messaging should work on the phone as long as you have picture messaging on your plan.  Mine was working fine on mine until I called to have roaming added to the phone.  Then typical of cricket they screwed something up and I haven’t been motivated enough to call about it since I don’t use picture messaging enough to worry about it. 

If picture messaging isn’t working for you call Cricket or visit your local store.  I’m sure they can fix it for you.

I have no problems with this phone just got it yesterday can recieve MMS, Emails, Updates,etc. fine and put music on an SD card to put on the phone so didn’t try downloading them from their website.  Y pay for their ringtones when there are so many out there free and the fact that you can make your own with wavepad which is a free program.  Come on ppl if you are having problems with the phone go to the kiosk they should beable to help you on figuring it out.  if not then maybe you should try one of their other phones that might be more along your speed like the samsung R211 its a simple phone an cheap no SD card no MMS.  If you can’t figure out how to use a phone then it must be to high tech for you this phone is simple an a great phone for the 79.99 price and all the functions it has to offer..

There are numerious websites with free ringtone you can send straight to your phone, mobiles24.com and phonezoo.com. These are the two that I use an if I can’t find what I am looking for I generally just make my own.

This phone works fine. Anyone that badmouths it may be expecting too much from it. Most of the issues i see listed above can be solved with a small amount of common sense.

Poor Battery Life: When you first buy the phone, charge it while it is OFF, DO NOT TURN IT ON. Let it charge for the entire time. This should put the battery life in the normal expectancy. Look up “battery memory” and this will explain why. If you have a bad battery, google it, you can find replacements for around 10 bucks.

Ring Tones: ANY and i mean any 5MB or less MP3 can be set as a ringtone. Download legally from limewire of course, to an SD card or sync up the phone with it’s USB data cable. For internal storage your space is limited. I recommend getting a cheap Micro SD. This is the quickest way to transfer any data to your phone.

Calender Glitch: I have noticed this as well, When puting in an end date further out than 30 minutes or even puting an end date is much more difficult than it should be. The event seems to change the end time back to 30 minutes and the end date seems to be impossible to set at times. I have gotten it to work but pray u don’t hit edit again after it’s where you want it. This part does sucks but its a small part of the phones features.

Freeze/Lock ups: Keeping your texts clean and your internal data storage clean helps with this. Periodically reboot your phone before it freezes can help prevent this also. I reset it every couple of days. Takes 2 seconds.

myxer.com- make and account and find the ringtones tht u want; when u do press download the green button and type your phone number and it will send the ringtone 2 your phone as a pic mesg. when it is done loading u have to press options and then save sound. DUHH ringtones r free i hav 56 n counting.

SLIDE CLOSE:
go to settings and then phone settings && then go all dha way dwn 2 slide close..and to make it hang up u click end task 2 keep it same yhu press contine task

You can program it to close all the current problems when you slide the phone up. Menu > Settings > Slide close (8) > End Task > Okay.  I put mine to cont. task because during calls I can just slide it up and it won’t end my calls. I like this phone so far, It’s only $65 right now, with new activation.

This phone absolutley sucks!  This is my second TXM8 in 4 months..both with the same undelying problem….after month 2 of having the phone it stops working without being on charger!  (along with countless other people whos bought this phone and have the SAME complaints) Once you place it on the charger it only holds up for a matter of minutes before it shuts off again and it makes it so hard to get calls!  Granted the phone is brand spanking new (both times) Cricketn doesnt work with you much on the warranty.

DO NOT BUY THE TXM8 THIS PHONE IS A PEICE OF CRAP AND WASTE OF MONEY!!!!!

The phone speaks for itself…. AND ITS NOT GOOD!  I’ve had many cell phones through the years and this one is the WORST phone I’ve encountered.  This is not a feeling but simply a fact…...  When the phone won’t sound out loud its ringing in (from a standard tone) but will sound when testing the tones, but only after hitting speaker phone.  I bought this phone brand new less than a month ago.  Also getting online is a nightmare and another story.  I went to the store I purchased this from and they said many people have come back to their store with the same complaint and tell us we need to go to a Cricket store directly.  OK, no big deal, but since I bought this NEW phone to have better service since my daughter is expecting anyday and have a condition where she must be at the hospital in a very timely manner for the safety of her and her baby I would say these are critical issues. 

Phone issues when you are just chatting about whatever, but when those of us who use the phone for the communicating of issues as inportant as mine, you can trust that we are people who’ve taken the time to utilize the settings correctly.

I have had my txtm8 for a few months now, but now I am not getting a message alert when I receive texts. I have done all I can think of to fix this. I went even so far as setting the default SMS tones to alert me but to no avail. Is anybody else having this problem?  I really do not like it at all because someone will text me, and I won’t know until I check my phone.

DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM CRICKET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My TXTM8 stopped charging and wont turn on without the charger and then only stays on for a minute at most.  Cricket has the worst customer service by far, My phone when it did work would freeze all the time and i would have to remove battery, less than 2 months after geting the phone it died.  WTF?  Dont waste your time or money, pay the extra $10-$15 per month and get you a phone that works.

I no rite i go to myxer but i have this fone and im 13 at first i thought it was crappy bkuz its “cricket” but i dropped it in the toilet like a month ago and it stilled worked!! but just today it stopped working only if its plugged to a charger! :(  and wen i get a text it turns off automatically which suxx and they dont sell these fones anymore :(

I checked out the phone (that is what happens when you have young daughters that can look at you with puppy eyes   )  but quite honestly was not impressed.  I talked to some friends that have cricket in our area and they have not been extremely happy with their service. I know it can vary from area to area which is why I asked around. For now I will be sticking with ATT (which has their own problems I know)

I’ve had my phone for over 6 months now and I absolutely love it. I don’t really see all of the problems that you guys are having? Maybe you can’t send a picture because you don’t have that on your plan? And when receiving pictures it worked fine too, I believe the only time you have to go to the internet to get a picture is when you also don’t have a picture messaging plan. Literally the only two things I don’t like about the phone are that it freezes up occasionally and you can’t turn the sound off of the camera without turning the whole thing on silent. That was it. I believe the internet is really good, better than the last phone i had, and fairly fast. All of my old phones never had good service at my house but the TXTM8 does.

I can’t stand this phone anymore. I’m in college and it’s all i have to get in touch with family and friends. All of a sudden it won’t stay on. The charger fell out a few minutes ago and now it will only come on with the charger and only stays on for about 30 seconds. Won’t send texts or calls. I hate it. It isn’t the first problem and probably won’t be the last. $140 down the drain. My old $60 phone was a helluva lot better than this.
