Residents along the Loire River were treated to what has to be the largest rubber duckie on the planet during the recent le Lieu Unique and Biennial Estuaire. Created by artist Florentijn Hofman, the bird is constructed of inflatable, rubber-coated PVC and has its own pontoon and generator. At a size of 26 x 20 x 32 meters, Hofman claims that there is no political connotation, but rather “relieves mondial tensions as well as define them.” Be that as it may, that would be one scary quacker if you didn’t see it coming.
