Exclusive: MacBook Air vs. Voodoo Envy 133 - Clash of World’s Thinnest Notebooks

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Apple, Design, Features, PC / Laptop

Earlier this morning we put up our Voodoo Envy 133 gallery, and once we glanced at our , we knew it was so on. It was time to put them head-to-head, in an epic battle of the world’s thinnest notebook computers. So, we put together another gallery, where the MacBook Air and Voodoo Envy 133 sit side-by-side. We take pit them together from a few different angles. Now, the Envy 133 does take the victory for being the thinnest notebook computer - but the thin side of the MacBook Air is technically thinner than the uniform thickness of the Envy. Really, it all comes down to what OS you want to run, and if you don’t care, then it comes down to form factor. Oh, and of course, the Envy 133 has way more ports (including HDMI) than the MacBook Air can even dream of having at this point.

Hit up our MacBook Air vs. Voodoo Envy 133 gallery for all the goods.

Great gallery and thanks for the information. I have never heard of the Voodoo Envy 133 before, so I’ll make sure to look around for more about that laptop. As for the MacBook Air, it is gorgeous and I can’t believe laptops can get so thin. The pictures really help people realize the similarities between the two laptops.

I like the looks of the boodoo and the cloth that comes with it. The laptop and the cloth both have the same grapich on it which is nice. I like the looks of the voodoo, I think the voodoo is the thinner of the two. But both look nice I just prefer the voodoo over the mac. They are some great pictures though. The thinner the laptop the easier it is to carry, which would make either one of these more appealing to buy but with voodoo having more ports in it I would go with it.

I’m not a fan of the mac air.. It moves around too much.. If you own one, you know exactly what im talking about.  I’ve personatly havent heard from Voodoo, you should have had the desktop showing in the gallery compared to the mac.

I enjoyed looking at the gallery, the HP Voodoo Envy 133 would be my #1 choice because of the operating system and because HP makes great quality notebooks.  I think this story was worth a Digg, if you did also please digg this at the below URL:

Really nice Andru. Great pictures! I agree it does come down to what OS you want to run, or if you like one color over the other. But maybe that HDMI port could make the difference for some.

Nice comparisons and the Voodoo wins out by “this much” (pinches fingers together).

I still have a hard time coming to grips with the idea that HP now owns Voodoo and is capable of releasing such beautiful hardware.

I agree it comes down to what OS you want to run. I would go with HP to, because of the name.  Although both are nice looking I would still prefer HP. Plus it has more ports.

Well, if as so many before me have said, that the choice really comes down to which OS you want to run, then the MBA wins, right? I mean, you can run Windows on it, right? Or Ubuntu, or even Mac OS X? Right? In fact, you could run all four OSes on it, yeah, I’m including both XP and Vista.

And, while I like having a HDMI port, it’s not any different than having a DVI port, except that it includes audio. In fact, since most business-class projectors have DVI and not HDMI ports, I’d prefer to have the DVI port, wouldn’t y’all?

The fourth photo comparing the thick end of the MBA to the Envy 133 proves your statement “Now, the Envy 133 does take the victory for being the thinnest notebook computer” is false.  Even the thick end of the MBA is thinner the the uniform thickness of the Voodoo making the MBA the winner by a large margin since the MBA tapers thinner from back to front.  Also in the same photo the fit and quality of construction is black and white in favor of the MBA.

Don’t want to be calling names here but the HP is just YET ANOTHER BLACK BRICK compared to the nicely done, curved and sexy MBA.

I’m a Lenovo X60t owner, so I know what I’m saying…

Just can’t believe none of the BIG companies like Lenovo, HP or Dell have understood that it’s all about design, not about the Zillion ports and stuff… Steve Jobs just shown them how a beautiful notebook looks like… and they still don’t get it. They keep on producing black bricks using just nicer materials and they think it’d cut it.

Just get me a Tablet-capable MBA and I’m sold…. or maybe Lenovo design a beautiful TabletPC?.... if you know what “beautiful” really means…

shirtless d.bags: does this run windows?
