Dell and Wal-Mart Create Solution Station

Dell/Wal-mart logosIt would appear that Dell is teaming with Wallyworld to create Solution Station, a service to help the electronically challenged. Help is offered for setting up PCs, TVs, wireless networks, entertainment centers, etc. Wal-mart plans to offer their service in the Dallas area in about 15 stores this month. Don’t try to pull a fast one on them as they only deal with “Dell and other branded systems.” Think of it as a bargain basement Geek Squad.

They work on any computers, not just branded systems.

I know that most of their techs are highly qualified with years of IT experience, certs, bachelor’s degrees, etc.  Not sure what they have across the board though.

On June 24, 2009 took my DELL laptop to my local Solution Station paid $51.96 for a diagnosis.
Today is July 10, 2009.  I have yet to hear from the staff.
On June 30th - I was in the Wal-Mart and asked the status of my laptop.  I was told that my laptop was next in line for service.  And I would be receiving a call no later than July 3rd with an estimate.  NOTHING !!!!!
On July 9th I called and spoke with a representative.  He apoligized and let me know other customers were venting about the same problem.  He also said the tech only comes around every couple of days.  He services many locations.
On July 10th - I then called again. Was told my computer has a STAR by it and myself and two other computers are in the same situation.  He guaranteed that my laptop will be ready for pick up on Saturday, July 11th.  In the last week several techs have quit.
VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS LOCATION !!!!  And I have not even seen the bill yet.
