PSP owns the DS

when it comes down to it, its the games that will determine who wins. DUH!!! Then comes screen size. Features come last.
The end.

Yeah PSP kills the DS. You forgot to put that PSP comes with Spiderman 2 UMD.

On hardware alone the PSP wins but, if the ds can show a real use for the touch screen with a killer game… then who knows.

PSP Will Commite RoadKill On DS. It Has The Games, Music, Features, And Man That Beautyful Screen. It Only Took Sony One Shot At Making A Portable Gaming\Entertainment Device, Its Taken Nintendo 15 Years And They Still Cant Match Up With What Sony Has Done. DS Sucks Balls!

Then it also depends on what you want to give your 7 year old child…a PSP with trigger happy games where your child can learn about the wonderful arsenal that they can use in school, or Mario on DS.

Thats a good point. But as the world becomes more portable and digital, which one will win out? I thinkt he PSP will. I think the two are very different. The DS is simply a gaming system, while the PSP is obviously just a portable media device.
I’m sure the DS would come before the PSP on a small child’s list, but on a 14-30 year old range, I’m sure the PSP would come first.
I’m not saying that Nintendo is going after a yoiunger audience (which has been brought up, but not in this conversation), but rather, they’re going to stick to what they know, and what works for them.

It depends on the games almost completely. DS has better more innovative games. The games on the PSP can already be played on PS2 and even though the PSP has a decently sized screen, it is often not big enough to play more complex PS2 games.
DS is my pick.

ds comes with a metroid demo and the games r cheaper ds will rule
Reply to this: comment | thread
Even the DS is $100 cheaper than the Sony PSP, there is a reason. The PSP is labeled as a portable media entertainment device. So with considerbly better graphics engine, higher rated games, and multifunction capabilities, the PSP is the better device hands down.

From my experience, buying a 10 in 1 is much worse then just buying the 1 thing you really want even though it only does one thing.
Reply to this: comment | thread
PSP not only because of features, but also because the games are so much better.
Reply to this: comment | thread
Sony can suck my… uh nevermind. Whether you think one has better graphics than the other, both look crappy compared to current TV consoles, mainly Xbox. PS2 is laughable IMO, which is what the PSP is. If you want a portable PS2, go ahead and choose that.
I have neither and plan on getting neither unless something changes my mind. Depends on how fun the games are.

DS sucks! i had 2 before the PSP came out, got 1 PSP launch day and realized that PSP owns, sold both my DS’s for 75 bucks to get a second PSP… just cause its the AWESOME!

The psp definatly hands down wins with no competition….the ds sucks and psp rules!!!!....the psp has better everything than the ds….. the ds is for little kids….and faggot nerds who love nintendo….psp wins without a doubt
Reply to this: comment | thread
PSP sucks!! DS rules the world so you stupid Sony freaks go and cry cause DS kicks PSP’s ***!!
Reply to this: comment | thread
The DS outsold the PSP by 800000 units in Japan. Why? Because PSP just sucks.
The PSP is a piece of ####. It breaks if a breeze comes along, there are problems with the UMD popping out, not only is it ugly, but the games on it absolutely suck, especially when compared to the games for the DS.
Sorry, but you can all the PSP great all you want, it sucks….period. Die hard Sony fans are turning away from it.
Say all you want about the DS, you are just showing how ignorant you are. I think it’s funny that most of the people shooting it down don’t even own one, how dumb do you have to be to do that?

You guys are going to grow up to be sad, lonely virgins. Also I wouldn’t expect Nintendo to go down in flames like you guys say, some people aren’t willing to give their clumsy child a $249.99 gadget, just so it will be dropped on the carpet and break apart. The DS is a gaming system and the PSP is just pre-existing hardware just crammed into a fragile piece of plastic.

PSP is overpriced. It’s only woth around maybe $100.

I hate sony I own a Gcube and about 4 or 5 generations of gameboys but im gonna have to saythat PSP owns ds’s butt the DS seriosly is a ganbot advance with a fancy screen that never does anythin DS seriosly sucks.
VOTE: PSP hands down

i meant Gameboy not ganbot

The DS is not a gameboy, stupidhead. Just because it can play GBA games doesn’t mean it’s a gameboy.

I just bought a DS here in Norway and it’s great. There are not to many games out yet but think of the possibilities. Imagine playing Super Smash Brothers on your DS. The DS will have fun and innovative games and the PSP will not. FYI: DS RULES!!!!!!!!

I own both… I am making an objective interpretation that is based upon owning both platforms and a large percentage of the available games for each:
I firmly think that the PSP is a better machine. I like my DS as much for it’s ability to legacy play my GBA carts, and some of the integration of the touch-screen has good potential. The huge difference to me is in capability. This goes along with the lines that while some features are similar, the PSP has true WiFi, USB2 port, Memory-stick support, and much better graphics processing hardware. (Not to mention, the plastics and build quality of the PSP is second to none)
I own Ridge Racer for DS, and PSP, the PSP version is far more satisfying, and plays much more elegantly. I also enjoy some of the Mario DS touch ability, and warioware touched etc. are interesting.
You will be able to surf on a PSP, download music and movies on your PSP, and even check e-mail very soon. In addition, you will be able to add keyboards and other important add-ons due to its USB port.
Bottom line, while I like both (and my mom gave me my DS for Christmas)... My DS will probably go to my Daughter, (an 8-year old) and I will move more into my PSP (being now almost 40 years old).. It is my impression that there is a market for both platforms,. and comparing the two is not realistic… they are two different machines with two different market and capability. Apple to Oranges. All of these “PSP’s suck and DS RULEZ” posts are not objective, and do nothing to better-inform a reader as to what each platform brings to the table.
I like both, I prefer my PSP (perhaps because I am older) and while I like my PSP Ridge Racer the best, I may have a hard time giving up my DS to my Daughter. (For Mario DS), but she does like Pokemon Dash (grin)
Anyway… to me, my objectivity may wear off when I see Gran Turismo 4 Mobile for my PSP, and what future games may come for it.. until then, I will try to remain objective. It is still in my opionion the best handheld gaming platform. PS2 quality may not be the best in the world, but it is the best in the palm of my hadn right now.

This is Sayit2mygun again and I agree with Mr. Objectivo. My brother is probally going to get a PSP.
The only problems I have with getting PSP the costs. In Europe the stuff is way more than what it costs in the States. The DS for me cost $215(1500 NOK) and the games cost 379 NOK($55) and that is on sale. You can only imagine the cost off the PSP the memory cards and the games. Money, money, money, where are kids gunna get the stuff? Grown -ups here don’t care much for consels and games so how is Sony gunna sell its PSP? For an average European I say the DS is a good choice but I can’t choose for u can I.
Best Regards,
Sayit2mygun

i am not gonna pay 250 dollars for a psp, what is that a joke anyway i don’t want the strap, headphones or any other junk just give me the handheld

I have the DS, it is PORTABLE.
Why buy a PSP when the battery life is awful and spends most of its time charging up from the mains?
Reply to this: comment | thread
Ok this must have been posted on some DS forum saying go! protect the DS!
Anyways I love Nintendo, but the DS just isn’t right for me. The game selection is horrible. The DS has been out for months and there’s hardly any games.
About battery life, the PSP is fine for me. It lasts for about 2 days for me. No I’m not playing constantly, but who does?

Why the DS is a flop:
The DS, unlike the GBA-SP, is developed and marketed for college age people. “Touching is Good” - not the kinda message we like to market to our kids, huh? Now, just to get it out of the way, the DS doesn’t blow as bad as the N-Gage, but that’s still not a compliment. The wireless connection idea can work if you actually make games for it that people will play.
So, Nintendo, after blowing the christmas season with lackluster manufacturing and not putting a DS into the hands of every person 18+ years of age, slowly develops games for its new system.
The games that come out, mostly kiddie games. Hey, I do like Mario 64, but add that to pokemon and wario and what’s going on here? OH, there’s the games for that demographic we were aiming for (that we didn’t sell to during christmas) - Feel the Magic (circa 1980’s arcade graphics) and Sprung (a dating game for the modern “player”/womanizer). But where in the H*** is Metroid Hunters?!
Now, I’ll give props to Sprung cause that meets the “Touching is Good” demographic. BUT…that college demographic I told you about…never bought the darn thing (except you people who are wondering why you can’t find others to link up to). Who bought those units???
Pre-teens. Yes, pre-teens who love their GBAs and wanted the new syste (No, the DS is not a GBA, but tells those kids that). Ok, so most of the games are for preteens. Except for those two games that EVERY PARENT SHOULD LOOK OUT FOR now that their pre-teen has the system.
You see the confusion here? mixed messages, not manufacturing enough units for the season, and not making enough games…ugh!
Enter the PSP in March (of all times), released top-of-the-line hardware. Crystal clear screen sells itself. 15 games on release. Sure the UMD movie thing might not work out, but you can still throw away your MP3 player. And THAT, my friends, is a repeat of the PS2 when it replaced all need for a separate DVD player. PSP, no confusion, it just runs.
With the competition now in place, since Nintendo didn’t take advantage of its timing and put a portable unit into the hands of everyone who now has a PSP, the DS will never sell again. And every week, I get customers trading in their DS for a PSP.
The DS is a Virtual Boy.
Reply to this: comment | thread
This is a stupid matter. Do you PSP boys realize that with the DS you can buy a Compact Flash card for 8-20 bucks and have 2 GIGS of memory for your DS? That means your little memory cards cant carry that much. The DS CAN play music, compatable games, movies, AND read eBooks. Whil you’re playing the same crap that’s on PS2, another faulty system, we can enjoy the hands down awesomeness of the nintendo DS. I’ve seen people’s PSPs break because of common things like putting your backpack down or shaking it after losing a game. Sony uses a magnet system for their disk drives, so its no wonder they break so damn easy. Again, neither system is really directed toward children, so that “My child can’t hear touching is good” is ########. It’s marketing people, wake up. Finally, in the long run, DS is a better system. This is just like Gamegear. Great look, awesome graphics, decent games, extras, but a really bad system design. It’s a crappy PS2 crammed into plastic. Not to mention DS has outsold the PSP by 800,000, as someone earlier stated.
Final Vote: DS, idiot.

Hey Maher, I saw what you wrote on April 21, 2005 about your precious system the DS. It sucks. Plain and simple.

I had a psp and returned because it had the worst graphics and because the psp came out and i wanted to buy that.
My point is that I thought that when i got the The Urbz on it it would have the graphics like in the consloe. Well it didn’t it had the same crappy graphic’s of a GBA also with ridge racers same thing psp graphics are way better. Now somebody tell me if any other graphics can compete with a handheld game system.

DS is not bad but the games ABSOLOUTLY SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i sware the only way you can like the games is if ur 5 and under otherwise the games can go suck Hiroshi Yamauchi balls. and where are da games? i keep seeing ppl post “just wait till the games come out” but how long has it been, about 3 months and what?, #### HASENT CAME OUT!! and on the other hand the PSP is EXTREMLY fragile like 1 wrong move and there goes 400 bucks the costumer service sucks more then DS’s games. like i called and told them i had a HUGE scratch on my screen and i was littilery telling the guy for 4 straight hours and at the end he didnt help me so i just went and complained to the store and they FINALLY got it replaced.
my say is that both suck just wait a couple years and wait and see wat else comes.

Hey all !
Just wanna let you know that DS can NOT be compared with the PSP. PSP totally SUCKS ! DS kicks ass !
I mean, omg, have you seen the graphics of the PSP ??
It’s totally CRAP ! Maybe DS games aren’t that great, but at least I love them ! And you can also play GBA games on it ! Can you play PS2 games on your PSP ?? I don’t think so…. Here in Japan, almost every single person i know has DS ! And the great thing about the DS is, that you can upload games from eachother ! And can you do that with PSP ? NO ! SO IT SUCKS ! I always had Nintendo consoles, and I always will have ! Sony totally SUCKS ! I know that after i wrote my last sentence, everyone will hate me…But IT’S TRUE ! PSP is RIP OFF ! NEVER BUY IT !
And mario games RULE !!!
