Microsoft Releasing Windows CE 5.0 Source Code

Windows CE 5.0Microsoft's next version of its Windows CE Operating System (5.0) is set to launch on July 9th. With this new version, Microsoft has also opted to give licensees a lot more control over developing for the platform. Licensees will have access to about 60-70% of the Windows CE 5.0 source code, which is essentially the blueprint of the OS.

In addition, Microsoft is also allowing developers to own the changes they innovate using the source code. This is a huge step in getting a larger base of software and applications which can be differentiated by developer.
