Logitech Revue with Google TV outed

When Google TV was announced, one of the more interesting partnerships was between Google and Logitech. Logitech has been working on a set-top box that would become a part of your entertainment system to allow you to access that Google TV goodness, but it went unnamed—until now. Today, Logitech revealed that their Google TV box will be called Logitech Revue. They go on to explain that a “revue” was the term used for old-timey theatrical shows that combined music, dance, and sketches. They aim to do the same, but with modern cable, web, apps, and all the current stuff that we do today for entertainment. They want the Logitech Revue to being all that together. Look for it this fall.

I really like the idea, but I think most people have enough set top boxes as is. Plus, at $299, Logitech are going to have a tough time competing with the $99 Apple TV. Still, as time progresses, I hear the hardware for Google TV will be pre-built into most new TV’s, which is fine by me
If they drop the price to match Apple TV, I’ll get one though.

Why would they drop the price to match Apple? The Revue does A LOT more. And if you’re a DISH Network customer (as I am both an employee and customer) you can purchase the Revue for $179, which is a 40% discount to the normal price. Plus it integrates with your DISH DVR receiver to allow you to search and set DVR recordings, which the Revue won’t do with any other provider. Highly suggest that anyone, especially DISH customers, check it out. Google TV, as a platform, is the future of TV.
