Kindle Fire Hack: Run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
If you've got a Kindle Fire and have been waiting for the opportunity to to install a full-on version of Android, you may want to look into the newest hack that's just been released that allows you to install Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on the Amazon tablet. Yep, you read that right - thanks to an early Ice Cream Sandwich port based on CyanogenMod 9 that was put together by JackpotClavin, you can turn your Kindle Fire into a real Android tablet, with some caveats, as you'd probably expect.
Since this is an early, unofficial version of Ice Cream Sandwich, there are some bugs and glitches that come with the port. That said, as you can see in the video above, pretty much everything is in working order with the exception of a few niggles here and there, and the fact that YouTube video playback is pretty useless at the moment.
The hack is a work in progress, so you should expect to see updates and improvements made as time goes on. If you want to give it a try yourself, head on over to the XDA-Developers site for the full set of instructions - but hey, do so at your own risk!
