Gear Live Giveaway: Sony PSP Value Pack
Each week, Gear Live gives away awesome tech prizes courtesy of PrizeCube. The winner of the last contest was Matt M., who walked away with a brand new Logitech Harmony 676 Remote Control.
I am going to make this quick, and easy. You all want a PSP. You may not want to pay $249 for a Value Pack that may be bundled with things you don’t even want, but you still want one. This is where we come in. We are going to give away two Sony PSP Value Packs in this contest. To enter, all you need to do is tell us which PSP launch game has you the most stoked - without using Ridge Racers as your answer. Just let us know which game it is, and why, in the comments area. In a week, we will randomly pick two people who met the requirements, and their PSP’s will be shipped when the product launches. As a friendly reminder, anyone is allowed to leave a comment, but only U.S. residents are eligible to win the prize. Thanks again to PrizeCube for sponsoring our giveaways.

I have to say that I have been completely hooked on Tiger Woods for years. It’s a game that I can pick up, play 18 holes of golf, and not be pissed that I have to put it down because of other time committments. The graphics have become better every year and the gameplay is fun, not necessarily realistic, but fun.
So Tiger Woods 2005 is the game for me. What better use for a handheld device!

Without a doubt, I’m going with Coded Arms. The game just looks fantastic. I’ve seen screenshots for a few of the other games (MGSA, Wipeout) and although they look good, Coded Arms just blows them away. It’s a huge feat for a launch title to look so good.
I’m a diehard FPS gamer and this is exactly what I’d want on my PSP. I have a lot of faith in Konami when it comes to this game.

So what game am I most looking forward to? Lumines.
Sure, no one else has said it yet but I think this one’s destined to become a classic.
First off, let me say that I’ve always been a big Tetris fan. Now, even though Lumines isn’t exactly a Tetris clone, it’s a puzzle game with falling blocks. Of course, that’s where the similarities end.
Lumines looks great because it adds more to the mix. Music’s created on the fly based upon what you’re doing in the game. Furthermore, a bar sweeps across the screen collecting your combos - so essentially there’s potential for some very big combos.
But wait, don’t forget! This one’s got a two player modes as well. From what I’ve heard, the two player mode is very solid.
So overall, Lumines might not be the most technically advanced game of the launch bunch, but I have a feeling that it’ll last me the longest.

I cannot wait for Untold Legends!!! It has awesome graphics and looks like I will be spending lots of time finishing the game. I also look forward to using the multiplayer feature on it as well. Can’t wait!!!!

I’m probably mostly hyped about NBA Street Showdown. i have NBA Street V3 for the PS2 and i just love that game. it was fun to play and so i can imagine it on the PSP.

Twisted Metal: Head-On—Just because I know a bunch of other people picking up this title, and I want to check out the head to head feature of the PSP.

Definitely Need 4 Speed Rivals and Tony Hawk underground 2, but I certainly wouldn’t throw away ATV offroad or Syphon Filter.

Metal Gear Acid for me. I’m a Metal Gear fan and am stoked for playing it on the PSP.

Untold Legends
Looks cool and its…dun dun dun…multiplayer…The main thing I need to not get bored of a game…that and I hate racing games

I’m most looking forward to MVP baseball. I just got the game for my Xbox and it would be great to play it whenever I want.

I’m ready for Tiger Woods Golf. I love this game for the PC, and would love to be able to play it in class, hehe. The replay value of this game is great, and it doesn’t hurt that I actually like golf
The graphics for this game should be top notch too, with all that psp goodness

I am so exicited about Twisted Metal: Head On. I still remember playing Twisted Metal 2 on blowing up the Eiffel Tower on PSX. That was a great game. And now I always play Twisted Metal Black. I’m hoping that this new one will follow in the footsteps of TM: Black.

Need for Speed Underground 2 of course! That’s like the only video game I play

the lauch game that interests me the most has got to be Need For Speed Underground Rivals…....because, ever since i started playing video games (15 years ago) there has always been a few game titles and series that come along and totally revamp the way people look at games. i think that NFS has done that. they were the first to really make imports big in a game. they have the best cosmetic tuning available right now and i know its only goin to get better with “Rivals.” please pick me for this drawing…...i know its random…..but dont worry, i wont tell anybody if u pick me cuz u like me the best
lol but seriously…..i NEED a PSP….if i dont get one, i dont know what i will do. i cant buy one myself cuz im short on money right now and cant splurge at all! im so desperate that i would be willing to put “Gear Live” all over it just to sponser yall. i would play it everywhere and let everyone know what the best internet website is in the entire WORLD!!! PLEASE PICK ME!!!!

Need For Speed Underground Rivals has me most excited as of now. I’ve played Underground 1 and 2 for PS2 and XBox and I’ve liked both games. The 2nd one is by far better than the first due to it’s performance customizing ability. Since I love racing games like that, Rivals really has me excited.

This is pretty easy for me. I am a Grand Theft Auto-holic. So I am REALLY looking forward for it’s release on the PSP.

I’m really want to give Metal Gear Ac!d a try. but there are like 4 others that I must have.

The game I would want most is the new Grand Theft Auto. I’m not a ps2 owner, but when GTAIII and Vice City came out for xbox, I was addicted to them for months. The psp version is going to be set in GTA III’s setting, Liberty City, but will be a different game. Who doesn’t love to steal cars, get money, and kill innocent people?
I hope I have a PSP by the time this game comes out!

has to be Final Fantasy. I take the subway every day here in NYC and i need a game on the go! this is going to be a great RPG as they usually are. Woot!

I’m gonna have to say Lumines. I love Tetris and I think this will be just as good if not better. But I’m going to have to mention Tony Hawk’s Underground 2 Remix too. Mainly because I love the Tony Hawk series and I think it will be a lot of fun on the run. And yes, I know that rhymed. I had one of the TH games for Game Boy Advance. But it wasn’t very good at all with the 2d graphics. I think the 3d graphics will make a huge difference.

Without question Mercury. It’s been a long time since we had a really good puzzle game. Super Monkey Ball is the closest thing to a new Tetris we’ve had in years. It looks incredible and word on the street is that it’s very addictive.

Out of the two dozen launch games I honestly have to say im looking for forward to Twisted Metal:Head-On. I remember playing the original Twisted Metal I and II on the orignal PS a few years back. Always had a blast playing it with my friends. Come on, Whats better then cars equipped with firearms?
Both Metal Gear Acid and Need for Speed Underground Rivals comes in second. Been a fan of MetalGear since forever.

Twisted Metal: Head On all the way!!!!

oops, meant to say why Twisted Metal: Head On would be my choice. Fast 3D that will make the PSP need a heatsink next to my thumbs.

Need for Speed Rivals will help me best enter into the world of PSP-phoria!
The graphics and details of the cars are amazing. The decals, shadows, and the designs are one of a kind. Comparing this game to PS2’s Need for Speed Underground 2, I can say this one will be even more fun to play on a tiny handheld console. The huge selection of cars will make me dizzy and choosing one of them to race will be painful! The games offers many game modes with challenging opponenents and courses. I definitely look forward to playing Need for Speed Rivals…and the “game-that-shall-not-be-named!”

Gran Turismo 4 Mobile by far. I absolutely love the PS2 version. To have this game portable would be a dream come true. As a teen I really want to get into cars for when I’m a little older and drive. Gran Turismo 4 gives me the opportunity to entretain myself while learning a thing or two.

The game that has me the most stoked would have to be Resident Evil. The reason for this is because I absolutely love Resident Evil and I believe that the graphics and sound are going to be sweeet!

Without a dought im most looking forward to wipeout pure. I used to play that all the time on play station 2 and that game was tight and music was really cool to i used to turn that sh*t up so loud.

OH GAWD! I totally want NFSU Rivals. I play the NFS series like on a daily basis, and love to pretend to drive in exotic cars (favorite being the 350ZX, as I love the datsun/nissan Z series). I would spend countless hours killing brain cells given the game and a psp to play it on.

Gotta have Need For Speed Underground Rivals! I’ve been playing NFSU 2 almost non-stop since Christmas on my PS2. I’ve always been a fan of driving games, mainly for the replayability. If you’re bored, you can always fire up a racing game to spend a few minutes on.

Without question, Lumines is the game I’m most looking forward to. It’s innovative.. and fascinating me more and more. Also, while Sony seems confident with their PSP lineup, you must admit the system is launching with many rehashed versions of PS2 games. I think the system will still need a stand out original title to really take off.. Can’t wait..

Darkstalkers Chronicle: The Chaos Tower is most definitely the PSP launch game that has me the most stoked! I love fighters and they’re perfect for handheld systems because there’s no commitment when you’re on the run; pick it up when you want to and put it down when you need to! I’m glad to see Darkstalkers return because it has so much more style than the current fighters and involves a theme seldom looked at in fighters.

I’m looking forward to Wipeout Pure, the screenshots and trailers looks sick! I just need some money to buy it!

The PSP launch game I’m most excited about is showing off the PSP to my coworkers and not letting them touch it!

Gran Turismo 4
Gran Turismo 4 is already killing all of my free time what better option than killing ALL of my free time with this great game. Think about it, I could play GT4 anywhere, even on the pooper.

I was a big fan of the Need for Speed series way back on the original Playstation I can’t wait to see what the series is gonna look like on the PSP. Hopefully we’ll get a version of Hot Pursuit.

The 989 games look real good. I’m going to be picking up NBA and NHL when they are released, MVP and MLB will be a tough decision. The $40 price tags and great graphics and gameplay are easy sellers
I’m really looking forward to all the 989 releases. I’m a complete sports junky and I love all sports games. If I have to pick just one I guess NBA will be the first. Can’t wait to get my hands on these!!!!!

When first hearing of a new Metal Gear on PSP, I got excited, imagining a bite-sized Snake sneaking and shooting his way through military super complexes to unravel the latest military conspiracy. While the game technically delivers on both aspects, the card-based mechanics for Metal Gear Acid strips the game of what made the franchise so fun to begin with. But all in all, I believe this release is a definite pickup!

holy crap 289 comments already!!!! This has to be the best response yet!! Very nice to see
.
Anyway as for myself, I am looking forward to wipeout pure the most. I did like it in the past and the graphics are going to look amazing on this screen. It will be the perfect game to use to show off your new psp to your friends since they can pick it up and play and will be amazed at how great it looks.
I’m also looking forward to twisted metal. I have loved the past versions and have at least 3 lol. Although this one supposedly doesn’t do much to move the game forward in any ways (besides multi) I will love it regardless

I think Need for Speed Underground Rivals is the game that I am most stoked about when the PSP launched. I loved the first Need for Speed when I played it on PC and the second one was even better. It is gonna be great playing it on the go with the PSP.

I’m strategy freak, i love warcraft, and I just can’t wait for Nippon Ichi’s Makkai Wars for the psp. It will be the first strategy game and its from the repectable company that brought you great strategy games like la pucelle, phatom brave, and Disgaea.

Hmmm it has to be Lumines for me. I’m all into the puzzle games that gives replayability. Big fan of tetris and lumines seems like a next-gen version of it, althought it might not be as good.

NBA Street Showdown. By far the best arcade basketball experience anywhere. And now it’s portable.

Twisted Metal is the game that i would want to get since i have been a fan of all the games that came out for the PS1. Also Metal Gear Solid looks like a good game, but Twisted Metal is my first choice.

The one game Im definately gunna get when the psp launches is Dynasty Warriors. Its great you get to go around killing hundreds of people in each match, and now I can do it anywhere I want.

I’m pretty excited about MVP baseball. It’s been a looooong time since I bought a console(the last one was Atari) but the PSP has me mesmorized. The graphics for MVP look great and I can see myself playing for hours!

I’m really looling forward to Coded Arms the FPS coming to the PSP. I have a feeling that it’s going to be really good, 1. because it’s an FPS and with so far seemingly good story line, 2. Wireless multiplayer should bring hours and hours of fun and also the fact that you can bring your singleplayer items into the multiplayer arena, 3. it’s developed by Konami and everyone knows that Konami has put out some very promising games. There’s also the fact that since the game will be a FPS and thereby having horrible controls seening that the PSP only has one analog stick, but I think Konami will be able to overcome this hurdle like it has in other games.
