Gear Live Giveaway: Sony PSP Value Pack

Posted by Andru Edwards
Categories: Announcements, Video Games

PSP Value Pack Giveaway

Each week, Gear Live gives away awesome tech prizes courtesy of PrizeCube. The winner of the last contest was Matt M., who walked away with a brand new Logitech Harmony 676 Remote Control.

I am going to make this quick, and easy. You all want a PSP. You may not want to pay $249 for a Value Pack that may be bundled with things you don’t even want, but you still want one. This is where we come in. We are going to give away two Sony PSP Value Packs in this contest. To enter, all you need to do is tell us which PSP launch game has you the most stoked - without using Ridge Racers as your answer. Just let us know which game it is, and why, in the comments area. In a week, we will randomly pick two people who met the requirements, and their PSP’s will be shipped when the product launches. As a friendly reminder, anyone is allowed to leave a comment, but only U.S. residents are eligible to win the prize. Thanks again to PrizeCube for sponsoring our giveaways.

Metal Gear Acid looks to have the potential to me. I’ve been a fan of the series ever since the first PSone game, and I think the new gameplay elements they implemented look pretty cool.

I have to say that I have been completely hooked on Tiger Woods for years. It’s a game that I can pick up, play 18 holes of golf, and not be pissed that I have to put it down because of other time committments. The graphics have become better every year and the gameplay is fun, not necessarily realistic, but fun.

So Tiger Woods 2005 is the game for me. What better use for a handheld device!

I think that Untold Legends in by far the best game we have to look forward to. Not only is it and RPG, nd they have the longest play time and replay value, but it’s also a beautiful game. I am getting a copy at lkaunch and so is my friend, I can’t wait to play it on lan and see how the multiplayer is.

I’m most excited about Wipeout Pure! Not only is it a fun game, it has been announced that Sony will be offering free downloads of tracks, skins, and musc for at least six months after the game ships! That’s just awesome!

Easy - Wipeout Pure. I played the Wipeout on the original Playstation and Wipeout Fusion on the PS2 as well. Did you know that Red Bull was advertised on the loading screens in Wipeout? That was 1997 - talk about progressive! It is rumored that Wipeout Pure will have downloadable content....if I won a PSP, I could find this our for sure! smile

I’m definitely looking forward to Metal Gear Acid. Being a Metal Gear fan since the beginning, I am really excited for the many changes I have seen in this game. I mean, card-based gameplay in a MG game? If you would’ve told me that a year ago, I wouldn’t have believed it. But if any game can pull it off efficiently, it could very well be Metal Gear. Definitely my most anticipated game at launch.

I’m all about Metal Gear Acid. I love the idea of a stealth action oriented card based RTS.  Talk about a mouthful…

I can see saving often and playing sections again and again just to see how the cards play out.

That, and thinking of Snake saying something from Yugiesque such as “Aha! You thought your Ambush card would catch me by surprise, but really I was just waiting to flip my Deadly Gas Mine trap card and play my Rolling Enty action card with the Come Up Firing boost!! HAHA!!”

I’m definitely looking forward to Need For Speed Underground Rivals!  I am hooked on Need For Speed Underground 2 for xBox and also enjoy Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2… the way this is looking, it’ll be a flippin’ sweet game and probably one of the best launch titles.

“Twisted Metal: Head-On” Will Be A Favorite For Everyone Who Will Own The Sony PSP. The Thought Of Having To Take A Sony PSP Anywhere And Rocket-Blast Cars That Are In Your Way, Is A Blast In It Self. Twisted Metal: Head-On Has Been A Franchise That Has Been All About Multiplayer And The Freedom To Roam And Destroy. Now That Wifi Has Kicked In Multiplayer Will Be Double The Fun. Its Graphics Show The Intensity Of Gameplay And Even If You’re Not In To The Multiplayer Mode There Is Always Single Player Mode as Will, Which Has Great Replay Value. I Believe That “Twisted Metal: Head-On” Will Have People Playing the PSP and It One of Kind Game.-Michael Reyes

989’s NBA looks sweet, its going to be so nice being able to play ball will I am travelling to go to school or work. What more can I say drowning out all the noise of crazy bus riders with Lebron James slamming it on VC. That is my most anticipated game from the PSP!!!

Without a doubt, I’m going with Coded Arms.  The game just looks fantastic.  I’ve seen screenshots for a few of the other games (MGSA, Wipeout) and although they look good, Coded Arms just blows them away.  It’s a huge feat for a launch title to look so good.

I’m a diehard FPS gamer and this is exactly what I’d want on my PSP.  I have a lot of faith in Konami when it comes to this game.

The 989 games look real good.  I’m going to be picking up NBA and NHL when they are released, MVP and MLB will be a tough decision.  The $40 price tags and great graphics and gameplay are easy sellers

The best launch game for me will be Lumines. The music sounds good and its something I can pick up where I left off when on a bus or train. Im really looking forward to hearing and seeing what all the hype is about.

So what game am I most looking forward to? Lumines.

Sure, no one else has said it yet but I think this one’s destined to become a classic.

First off, let me say that I’ve always been a big Tetris fan. Now, even though Lumines isn’t exactly a Tetris clone, it’s a puzzle game with falling blocks. Of course, that’s where the similarities end.

Lumines looks great because it adds more to the mix. Music’s created on the fly based upon what you’re doing in the game. Furthermore, a bar sweeps across the screen collecting your combos - so essentially there’s potential for some very big combos.

But wait, don’t forget! This one’s got a two player modes as well. From what I’ve heard, the two player mode is very solid.

So overall, Lumines might not be the most technically advanced game of the launch bunch, but I have a feeling that it’ll last me the longest.

My vote goes to Wipeout Pure. I have been playing Wipeout since it came out on the PSOne back in 1995 and I still play it to this day (the original version). I think it will be awesome if you can do some head-to-head wireless racing. You just can’t beat the look of the Wipeout games in general with the extremely fluid and futuristic graphics. I think it’s going to be awesome to finally have this in a handheld version.

I am the most excited for Metal Gear Acid. I have always been a Metal Gear Solid fan, and as soon as I saw Metal Gear come to PSP, I have been a PSP fan. Metal gear has it all to me, great gameplay, and excellent story, and awsome graphics. The new cardplay element will be very interesting, indeed, and I very much look forward to playing it and seeing how it works out. This game is a great innovation, and even though Konami decided to take a different direction with MGA, innovation is interesting and I want it!

GRAN TURISMO 4! With the next rendition in this amazing series, the game only gets better. I will pick this game up as soon as I have my PSP. With fuel necesseties added and the ability to coach a driver, this perfect game just got more so. The future of handhelds is NOW and I want a game that can truly prove it. Gran Turismo 4 looks to be a monster of a game!

Lumines will be the must have game for the PSP. With its dazzling visual effects and blasting techno music it really creates a fun gaming experience. Because of its Tetris style it is said that nearly anyone can play the game without much trouble, and it also creates simple yet addictive gameplay. Because of the simplicity of Lumines, it will become a game that is ideal for a portable because you can pick it up and play whenever you want and wherever you are. Because of the design, originality, and lasting gameplay of Lumines, it will surely be the best game to have with a PSP.

I’m really stoked on Tiger Woods 05!  I haven’t played a video game system in years, and I’ve decided the PSP would be perfect to have in the delivery room when my wife goes into labor in a few months.  Nothing like scoring a double eagle on the 18th hole of Augusta as my wife screams out in pain!  smile

Oh yeah....and I’m sure the graphics and interface and blah, blah, blah will be killer too. smile

I’m most looking forward to MVP Baseball. I’m an avid sports gamer and the thought of having the ability to play this game anytime, anywhere is a very exciting prospect. It will be perfect because it’ll coincide with the beginning of the ‘05 baseball season and with a game as good as that (as anyone who’s played it will attest), its a no-brainer.

Especially considering Sega bought out the MLB license much like EA Sports bought the NFL license… so this is the last-go for MVP. Gotta take advantage of certain jewels while they’re still around and MVP Baseball is that game.

    Batter up!

Gran Turismo 4: I have always loved the in-depth aspects of this series, yet I never have large amounts of time to dedicate to furthering my car collection. With the PSP, I can earn a few new rides in my spare time throughout the day. (...not to mention if it is anything like GT4 on PS2!)

Ummm....The game that I am most stocked about is FIFA Soccer 2005...Lol....yeah I am a huge soccer fan hence the screen name Soccerchick....thats right girls play videogames too.
Sure there are other soccer games out there, but what so stocked about this game is that its Mid-Season Scenario Mode feature… You can put yourself in the middle of the action as you play out the rest of the 04/05 season with current real-time team standings...so i’m so stocked about being able to play with real-time standings.

    ~Absolutely...FINAL FANTASY VII: CRISIS CORE!!!!!!!
i’m a big FF fan and this game is the 5th and final installment of final fantasy VII, only for the PSP in 2006!

~The actual reason for me to get the PSP , in the first place was when i was in the 7th grade(now in 10th) when i found out about FFVIIAC and an article saying it will be playing on the PSP so i was excited about Sony having an idea of making a portable system to add to their exellent collection of flawless products!

    Definietly FIFA 2005.

I only play sports games and the FIFA’s are about the best games (when it comes to more realistic) than about any other game.

If you know soccer you will realize that to win, you have to understand the game.
