Gear Live Giveaway: Nintendo DS
Each week, Gear Live gives away awesome tech prizes courtesy of PrizeCube. The winner of last week’s contest was trudat, who walked away with a Robosapien.
Nintendo’s newest handheld console has been hard to find in retail stores lately, and is just getting back to the point where you can find it at any local electronics store - but why should you when you can get it for free? This week we are giving away a brand new Nintendo DS to one lucky Gear Live reader. What do you have to do to be eligible? Simply register for the site if you haven’t done so already, and leave us a comment telling us what your first Nintendo handheld console was and which game you spent the most man hours on. We will take the best ones, and choose a random winner. As always, big ups to PrizeCube for sponsoring our weekly contests. As always, this is open only to those who reside in the USA.

My first game boy was the original, which I still have. I remember how great it was to have it. though now it looks almost ridiculous in size, and shape, but to think how revolutionary it was then.
I can say without a doubt the most hours I have put into a gameboy game is tetris. I still play it on my GBA SP! Its a timeless classic, and the gameplay is always great no matter if it is in color or not.

my first handle is Gameboy Advance . the game i play the most was “Super Mario advance” . It was so much fun. I played that game as much as I could for like 3-4 weeks .

I didn’t own any handheld until the GBA. The only two games I ever played on it were Super Mario World and Zelda: A Link to the Past. So total man hours would be whatever it took to beat both of those.
I just haven’t had time to play it anymore, seeing as how I’m always the one driving on trips. So the only game-playing I have time to do is at home, and then I’d rather be playing Xbox or PS2.

My first hand held game boy was the Original Game Boy, which I played day and night up to 18 hours a day. My first game was Pokemon Blue Version. Which I played it until the batteries went dead. So then I would grab 2 more batteries and start playing again.
Then after 4 weeks later I completed the game including all 151 Pokemon on the Original Pokedex. Today I own all the Nintendo hand held and Nintendo Systems, except the Nintendo DS, which I would love to have.

The first handheld nintendo console I got was a gameboy color which I bought like 2 years and I ended up buying pokemon silver right after and played that game for 3 weeks straight during the summer, barely got any sleep and had to pause (unfortunately) to get some. It was fun though.

When I look back on my first handheld, I wonder if I ever noticed how thick and unwieldly it was in my tiny, adolescent hands. The first Nintendo handheld was a brick, but it was MY brick, and some of my fondest memories are of me on the hours long drive to and from the military hospital, where I would recieve my annual checkups or if I felt sick, or needed shots. No matter how sterile and dull, I had a tiny, yellow screen where I was in charge- a place where I could defeat evil or simply fight in the name of glory. Often, I would make up other stories to go along with my games, such as Super Mario Land 2. I was young, and my imagination was wild. That game, I would beat it over and over, never growing tired of it. Nowadays, a game wouldn’t hold that much interest in me… Leave it for a child

My first Nintendo Handheld was the Original Gameboy! Dang that thing was fatty but at the time blew everyone’s mind away! I had Batman for it and it was by far my favorite game. I beat it 3 times and loved everything about it. I would love to give my son a DS so he can waste countless hours on videogames!
Thanks

My first handheld was a Game Boy Advance Color, my favorite game was Super Mario. I played it everyday for 4 months until I got stuck at a level. A year later, I’m still stuck at it. I play it until I get frustrated and give up again for a few weeks.
