iPhone 3G launchHappy July 4th to all our American readers. We just wanted to remind those of you who live in one of the initial launch countries that launches in just one week. Remember, unlike last year, the iPhone 3G will go on sale at 8:00 AM, so start planning your line strategy now. Aside from 3G goodness, you also have , the , and built-in GPS. Next Friday can’t come soon enough for us.

Any Gear Live readers in the Seattle area want to join us while we wait?

I wonder why Apple planned to launch the iPhone on July 11th. It's 7-Eleven's anniversary on that day too! Go to 7-Eleven and you can get a free slurpee after you've brought your 3G iPhone.

omg i totally forgot about the 7-11 thing! I remember being invited to a facebook group lol.

It's crazy, people are already camping out a week early for the 3G iPhone! Daniel's main reason for camping out is because he wants to be in the Guinness book of records for waiting the longest in line. Check out this article on Engadget: http://www.engadget.com/2008/07/04/iphone-3g-lines-start-at-the-apple-cube-one-week-early

I'm not surprised that people are lining/camping out for the iPhone 3G, that is totally awesome and neat. I can't believe that July 11 is arriving so quickly, it seems like only a couple of days ago that Steve Jobs announced that date and everyone was like, "So long?!" I can't wait to see some unboxing videos of it and what the sales will be like on the first day. Exciting!

I would have camped out if the 3G iPhone didn’t require activation.  Good luck on July 11th Gear Live staff and anyone else planning on getting the 3G iPhone!  Happy 4th of July to everyone too.

Heh, as if non-US countries don’t have a July 4th.  They just go right from the 3rd to the 5th raspberry

No camping out for me.  I wonder if it will be as crazy as it was for the original launch?  There may be some lines because of the in store activation.  I liked doing my own activation. Quick and easy.

Wow! Yet another article about the iPhone! What does this bring our grand total up to now? Hey GearLive......try posting about something else!

Ahh good ol’ camping out for electronics.. Gotta love that! :D

I'd planned to wait until there is a 32GB version, but I'm not sure I can hold out that long, especially with a 0 apple store credit from my last iPhone starting to burn a hole in my pocket.

0 credit? You hung on to that this long?! :)

Andru, my wife and I did, too.

I'm pretty conservative with my tech dollars The iPhone is the rare device I'd actually buy a first gen of and plan on upgrading quickly, and I figured there would be another iPhone I wanted soon enough. Besides, Apple didn't have anything else I "needed." (I already know going to NEED a 32gb iPhone)

Yeah, I want 32GB as well. The reason the touch has it is because the touch can fit more chips inside it. We wont see a 32GB version for at least 6 months.
