Drake Respects Women With His Raps

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Artist News, Hip-Hop & Rap,

Drake and his motherDrake tries not to offend women with his raps out of respect for his mother. The "Make Me Proud" rapper was raised largely by his mother by after she and his father split when he was young, and she taught him to always treat the opposite sex with utmost respect.

"My mother made me truly appreciate women. I obviously make sex-driven, darker, sexier music, but I try not to offend women. It's not in my character. And my father was basically a reverse-role model for me. I'm dying to be a great dad one day, whenever that day comes. Other than that, it was hard just growing up with my mom and watching her fight for me to have a good childhood. It was tough to watch."

The 25-year-old rapper claims his wordplay and musical approach have been greatly influenced by Kanye West and Outkast's Andre 3000, who he feels changed the boundaries of rap in the last decade:

Drake Wishes Justin Bieber Would Swear

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Artist News, Collaborations, Gossip,

Justin Bieber and DrakeDrake wishes Justin Bieber had kept the swearing in his remix of the rapper's track "Trust Issues." The "Over" hitmaker had expected the 17-year-old singer's take on the song to be the "transformation" of the star, and was surprised when he heard the cleaned-up edit.

"I wish he would've left all the cuss words in it. I feel like that would've been so [gangsta], if he would've done all the swearing. I was excited when I heard he remixed it, because there was like a gang of swearing in that song. I was like, 'Oh, we're about to hear the transformation of Bieber,'" Drake said.

Among the changes Justin made to the track were amending the line "F**k it, I'm on one" to "You know I'm on one" and altering a lyric referring to bitches and drinking. In the original, Drake sings, "You know what I'm sippin'/ I teach you how to mix it/ But you're the only one, 'cause I don't trust these bitches." The remix instead features the line "You just need to listen/ Teach you how to fix it/ 'Cause you're the only one, because I don't trust these women."

Despite the changes, Drake thinks it is "incredible" that the Never Say Never hitmaker tackled the song: "He's like a talented kid ... from Canada, so to hear him even remix that song is crazy. That's incredible."

Future Project Ahead for Drake and Florence Welch

It looks like Drake will be working with Florence + the Machine in the future.

The "Forever" rapper was joined onstage by flamed haired singer Florence Welch when he played in London on Saturday night, fueling rumors of a collaboration.

Florence -- who is presently writing her second album -- had gone to the rapper's show the previous evening as a fan. That is when Drake reportedly approached the singer about a duet.

The pair originally met each other at the MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles last year and have stayed in contact since.

When Welch performed with Drake, Florence sang the part recorded by Alicia Keys in the track "Fireworks," from Drake's debut album Thank Me Later. (See video above.)

Florence, will tour the US starting in May as an opening act for U2 on their 360 degree tour.

Drake Featured in Rihanna’s New Music Video

Drake might have felt like a "pawn" after his brief relationship with Rihanna, but that didn't keep the rapper/actor from working with his ex-girlfriend again.

In this video for "What's My Name?," Drake proves it is possible for former flames to remain professional.

After watching the clip, let us know what you thought. Was it awkward watching the two work so intimately with each other -- or were you so distracted by Rihanna's Spanx to even notice?

Drake may already be a chart topper with lot of rowdy fans, but that doesn’t mean the rapper couldn’t use songwriting help from time to time.

VIDEO: Crowd Angered by Canceled Drake Concert

Note to promoters everywhere: Never underestimate the size of a free concert—especially when it involves a former star. In particular, a Degrassi star now known as Drake.

On Tuesday, an event promoted by Paper magazine was called off by police before it even started. The reason? Too many people and not enough security. Although organizers predicted approximately 10,000 to watch - and Hanson - perform, the crowd was more than twice that size. It was estimated that nearly 25,000 showed up at Pier 17 on Manhattan’s South Street Seaport.
