Drake’s Posthumous Aaliyah Album Scrapped

DrakeDrake's posthumous Aaliyah album featuring unreleased material from the singer has been scrapped.

The rapper's producer Noah "40" Shebib was set to work with him on the project but has pulled out because her mother Diane didn't approve of the idea. In an interview with Vibe, Noah said, "The world reacting to Drake's involvement so negatively, I just wanted nothing to do with it. [Aaliyah's] mother saying 'I don't want this out' was enough for me. I walked away very quickly."

He was also worried about the "negative stigma" involved with the album, which was set to feature unreleased material from the 22-year-old singer who died in a plane crash on August 25, 2001. But he claims producer Timbaland, who previously said only he should work on Aaliyah's music, was positive about his work.

Drake Slams Chris Brown in New Single

Drake and Chris BrownDrake has slammed Chris Brown in his new single "Enough Said."

The rapper's latest track features previously unheard vocals by late R&B singer Aaliyah and has angered fans who have accused him of using the song as a vehicle to diss his love rival Chris.

"Running through the city with n****s I'd give a kidney/ Selling under 150 you n****s got to be kidding/ Is this even still a discussion?/ Don't you ever wake up disgusted?" Drake raps. The line has been perceived as a dig at Chris' mediocre album sales after his latest offering Fortune sold 135,000 copies in its first week while Drake's Take Care shifted 600,000.

Fans took to Twitter in a rage after hearing the song, which has been released to honor the anniversary of Aaliyah's tragic death in a plane crash. "I love Drake but not sure reworking Aaliyah for 10 year anniversary and 'dissing' Chris Brown in it is really in the right spirit!" @Cazba21 posted. @In_Boss_U_Trust asked, "Is the Drake song with Aaliyah in it really a diss to Chris Brown cuz if so, that's disrespectful."

Drake Blasts David Guetta

Drake David Guetta

Drake has no interest in making dance music. The 25-year-old rapper insists he would rather make a club track with "integrity and soul" than collaborate with artists such as French producer David Guetta.

"For me, the David Guetta stuff just doesn't work. I don't really wanna go there. There's other artists, that's their sound. They feel in order to thrive internationally that they gotta do straightforward, four on the flour, David Guetta, Pitbull music. For me, I'd rather go to somebody like Jamie xx and tell him, 'Look, I really wanna turn the club upside down, but I wanna do it with integrity, with soul.'"

Justin Bieber Hasn’t Made Rap Record

Justin BieberJustin Bieber says there isn't a lot of rapping on his new album. The 18-year-old singer can be heard talking/rapping on his latest track "Boyfriend," but he insists his upcoming third LP Believe is still a traditional pop record.

"There's not a lot of rapping on the album. As people know, I'm a singer, and I don't want to get people confused with that, but it's something that I love to do, so you guys will definitely hear more of it," he told MTV News.

On "Boyfriend" the verses are performed in a rap style by Bieber and the lyrics include the lines "If I was your boyfriend, I'd never let you go/ I can take you places you ain't never been before/ Baby take a chance or you'll never ever know/ I got money in my hands that I'd really like to blow/ Swag swag swag, on you."

The music superstar has collaborated with several big names on the record, including Timbaland, Drake and Lil Wayne.

Drake Wants to Be Iconic

DrakeDrake wants his "purpose on earth" to be being "iconic." The 25-year-old rapper admits his main career ambition is for his music to stand the test of time and still be remembered in years to come.

Discussing a lyric to his track "Lord Knows" - in which he raps, "I'm a descendent of either Marley or Hendrix/ I haven't figured it out cause my story is far from finished" - he said, "I didn't really say I was the rap Hendrix or Marley, I said I was the descendant. Because I feel like that's what I want to be for this generation: iconic. That's the purpose I want to serve on this earth. I want my words to be remembered in 10, 15 years."

The "Marvin's Room" hitmaker believes his popularity is down to the fact he doesn't rely on any "gimmicks" or feel the need to create a different persona for his music: "I don't really have a gimmick or a 'thing.' I'm one of the few artists who gets to be himself every day. It doesn't take me six hours to get ready, and I don't have to wake up in the morning and remember to act like this or talk like that. I just have to be me. And people really like that."
