Simon Cowell and One Direction

The British boy band are currently on tour in America and the success and screaming girls which have followed them has left their mentor suffering sleepless nights. "He's really, really excited about the reaction we've had out here and has said he's not sleeping properly because he keeps thinking about us and how it's going. He's far too excited to sleep. Which is quite cool," said the group's Louis Tomlinson.

The group - who's debut album Up All Night is tipped to top the US charts tomorrow - were initially told it would take them much longer to crack the difficult US market, but microblogging site Twitter has helped them gain fans.

Lil Wayne Red Cap

is to be handed a court summons in jail. The rapper - currently incarcerated at New York’s Riker’s Island prison on weapons charges - faces a fresh legal battle after his expected release on November 4, as a producer has launched a copyright infringement lawsuit against him.

Michael ‘Mali Boi’ Bradford is claiming for unpaid royalties he believes he is due for creating the beat to Wayne’s single ‘Mrs. Officer’. He says he came up with the rhythm five years before it was reworked by Deezle, who is credited as the producer of the track. Deezle is also reportedly launching legal action, saying he has not been paid royalties for the 2008 single, from Wayne’s breakthrough ‘Tha Carter III’ album.

“Thriller” may have been the video most fans wanted to watch, but it surprisingly wasn’t the song most people wanted to play, play, play.

According to Billboard, it was a tune that Jackson did with that ranks as the late singer’s best hit. “Say, Say, Say” topped a list of 50 tracks followed by “Billie Jean” and “I’ll Be There.”

The list, which was compiled to help commemorate the upcoming anniversary of Michael’s death (June 25), took a number of factors into consideration to determine a track’s performance in the Hot 100. (You can read the full explanation behind the inverse point system here.) Although “Billie Jean” spent more weeks at #1, the Jackson/McCartney collaboration lasted longer on the charts.
