Let’s face it - this would have been an embarrassing performance even if Lady Gaga hadn’t been performing in the exact same city…at the exact same time.

Although a record crowd got to see a dynamic performance from the “Bad Romance” singer courtesy of the Today show, fans of American Idol were dished an out-of-tune spectacle during Good Morning America‘s event Friday morning.

If you were secretly hoping that the group’s cover of Kelly Clarkson’s “My Life Would Suck Without You” would sound better live than it does in rehearsal, you’ll be sadly disappointed by this clip. Making it worse? The version of Bon Jovi’s “It’s My Life” they added to it.

I’m not sure if it’s possible for ten people standing in a row to look more bored, but I now understand why people aren’t snapping up tickets to their concert tour. (And why a number of dates have been canceled as a result.)

To be fair, Lee DeWyze and Crystal Bowersox individually carried their own during their solo performances. But those two can’t carry a whole Idol concert - nor should they be asked to.
