Summit Entertainment saw fireworks at the theaters this holiday weekend.
The four-day frame ended with The Twilight Saga: Eclipse hauling in approximately $83.6 million. Although the David Slade-directed installment easily dethroned reigning champ Toy Story 3, the sequel actually failed to surpass the previous outing. Last fall, The Twilight Saga: New Moon grossed $178.9 million over six days. Eclipse, on the other hand, only raised $176.3 million since opening last Wednesday.
Meanwhile, scathing reviews didn’t keep The Last Airbender from raking up a sizable share of the box office pot. M. Night Shyamalan’s take on Nickelodeon series fought off critics to earn $51.8 million over four days. Overall, the $150 million production has totaled $69.3 million domestically since its Thursday debut.

Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Gets Huge Cast, Two Movies
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Adaptation, Drama, Horror, Romance, Science Fiction, Sequels, Filmmaking, Upcoming Releases, Videos,
Breaking Dawn, the final installment in The Twilight Saga, will be split into two movies, a la Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Director Bill Condon will shoot both films back-to-back; they will probably be released on November 2011 and sometime in 2012.
The three actors in everyone’s favorite love triangle - Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner - will all return to the flick as will Peter Facinelli (Carlisle), Elizabeth Reaser (Esme), Jackson Rathbone (Jasper), Nikki Reed (Rosalie), Ashley Greene (Alice) and Kellen Lutz (Emmett).
Eclipse stars Tinsel Korey (Emily), Alex Meraz (Paul) and Julia Jones (Leah) will also be a part of the first Breaking Dawn film.

Almost Famous: Movie Towns After the Film is Over
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Horror, Filmmaking,
Unless you happen to be a geography buff or a resident of the extreme Pacific Northwest, it’s safe to say you never heard of a tiny town called Forks until the Twilight Saga made it famous. The town has a population of less than four thousand, but it now might get that many visitors in a single month. Visitors to Forks can go on a full-out Twilight tour, visiting everything from Bella Swan’s pick-up truck to the officers where Dr. Cullen works. The tiny logging town has become the stuff of movie legend…for better or for worse.
Before we found out about a town called Forks in the west, horror buffs had a smaller Mecca toward which to flock in the east: Burkittsville, Maryland. Anybody remember a little movie called The Blair Witch Project?

New Eclipse Trailer Unveiled

“As long as we get to kill some vampires.”
Although I haven’t yet read past the first Twilight book, there is one thing I can say with absolute certainty about this new Eclipse trailer: There are a lot of vampires in this clip—enough to make a whole army.
Like what you see? Then be sure to tune in May 13 to Oprah—that’s when Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner all visit the talk show queen.
The movie will then open on June 30, just over two months from now.

Blind Side Eclipses New Moon on Thanksgiving

Despite predicted dominance at the box office this Thanksgiving weekend, Twi-hards seemed to be too busy stuffing their faces with food to keep up with movie-goers set to see Sandra Bullock‘s football drama The Blind Side.
Raking in $9.5 million, The Blind Side rushed ahead (barely) of New Moon, which received $9.2 million—raising its cumulative total to $188.4 million.
Will this keep up the rest of the holiday weekend? While I certainly do not possess Alice Cullen’s psychic abilities, I’ve surmised ten reasons as to why the latest installment of The Twilight Saga could be losing its box office grip.
