Around this same time last year, Tyler Perry was beating George Clooney in a battle at the box office. Now the Sexiest Man Alive is having his day.

This past weekend, cineplexes were kept busy with a handful of new releases. Although each film had a chance of reaching #1, - starring Clooney, Brad Pitt and Frances McDormand - emerged as the eventual winner. But the news wasn’t so bad for the other three contenders. Theatergoers clearly starving for fresh material placed all four wide release entries into the chart’s four top slots.

Al Pacino and Robert De Niro’s First Joint TV Interview

Admittedly, this is a very painful clip to watch. (It’s riddled with awkward pauses.) Having said that - it’s still a noteworthy event for film lovers. For the first time ever, and Robert De Niro have given a joint TV interview. Unfortunately for Brian Williams, he was the one given the responsibility of conducting it.

The two intimidating actors sat down with the NBC news anchor to promote their new film . (The movie opens today.) Although this is the third project they’ve both been in together (The Godfather: Part II and Heat being the others), this is the first time they’ve shared a good portion of the scenes.

After watching the interview, ask yourself: “Could James Lipton - or anyone -  have handled this better?”

Here’s a quick look at some of the casting announcements made recently:

Ghost Rider‘s may soon getting off the bike and heading behind bars. The actor, last seen in National Treasure, is currently in negotiations to play an inmate serving a life sentence in Scared Straight.

The movie, based on the program that tries to ‘scare’ temporary inmates into leading a clean life, will focus on an incarcerated teen held hostage during a prison riot. Cage, unable to sit back and watch this unfold, will reluctantly come to the kid’s rescue.

Scared - which will be directed by (Halloween) - should begin filming this October.
