Charlie Sheen and Robert RodriguezCharlie Sheen will play the President in Machete Kills.

The 46-year-old actor - who last appeared on the big screen in 2010 comedy Due Date, in which he made a cameo appearance as himself - has been cast to portray the political figure by director Robert Rodriguez, who took to his Twitter account to confirm the news and post a picture of the pair together.

"I just cast Charlie Sheen in #machetekills as the President of the United States! Who better? More soon..(sic)" he wrote.

Following the announcement, Charlie later retweeted the message to his 7.5 million followers, adding the phrase "My fellow Americans!"

Liam Neeson Cut from Hangover Sequel

Liam Neeson Nick Cassavetes

Liam Neeson’s cameo won’t be included in The Hangover: Part II after all. The actor was brought in to a play a tattoo artist, replacing actor Mel Gibson when the movie’s cast refused to work with him. Neeson was needed on set for a few reshoots (as the scene had already been filmed), but he was too busy on the set of Clash of the Titans 2 to work it in.

The Hangover: Part II is due in theaters in May, and director Todd Phillips just couldn’t wait. Actor/writer/director/poker player Nick Cassavetes will take on the role instead. Phillips says the scene is now finished, and viewers will see the Cassavetes version in theaters.

Mel Gibson and The Beaver to Hit Theaters Next Spring

If purchased a puppet and adopted a Michael Caine accent, would he be able to solve of all his personal problems? More importantly -- would anyone care?

Those are questions the actor and director Jodie Foster will have answered when hits the big screen next year. The film, about a depressed toy executive who “can’t seem to get himself back on track … until a beaver hand puppet enters his life,” was originally scheduled to debut in 2010. Unfortunately, Mel’s real-life drama put the release date in limbo.

Would a spring release give audiences enough time to get past Gibson’s vocal recordings? Or would they even be interested in watching him voice a puppet anyway?

Liam Neeson Takes Over Mel Gibson’s Hangover 2 Cameo

Liam Neeson has been selected to take over the tattoo artist role in Hangover 2, a cameo originally given to Mel Gibson. When some members of the cast and crew protested to Gibon’s participation in the film, a rep for both actors quickly swapped the one for the other.

The rep joked that Neeson would join the film “pending clearance of cast and crew background check.” Apparently, the Irish actor passed the test because TMZ is reporting that Neeson arrived in L.A. Saturday to begin working on the film.

Mel Gibson Loses His Hangover (Role)

Mel Gibson

It appears Hollywood is not yet ready to forgive and forget when it comes to Mel Gibson.

Earlier this week, we wondered whether audiences would welcome a cameo from Mel in The Hangover Part II. Unfortunately, we'll never know the answer.

Although someone had tapped the Oscar winner to play a tattoo artist in the comedy, the casting decision was not embraced by all those involved. On Thursday, Warner Bros. issued a press releasing announcing Gibson's dismissal from the project.

Mel Gibson to Appear in The Hangover 2

The Hangover 2 has nabbed a huge star to perform a cameo that could rival Mike Tyson’s Hangover appearance.

Mel Gibson will be appearing in the sequel, though not as himself. Gibson will be playing some sort of over-the-top character in the film. Sources say he's been cast as a tattoo artist in Bangkok.

Mel's cameo raises a lot of questions: How many of his own well-publicized personal problems will be openly mocked in the film … and how will audiences react? Unfortunately, we will have to wait until May 26 to find out.
