Early Reviews for Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Do you like your movies loud, big, long and mindless? Then it sounds like might be for you. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the ticket for some who’ve had the chance to watch it so far.

The movie doesn’t debut in the United States until June 24, but it’ll hit the UK on June 19. Here are few of the early reviews:

Hollywood Reporter:  “With its intelligence at the level of the simple-minded, however, the film is not likely to attract moviegoers who seek something more than a screen filled with kaleidoscopes of colored metal. Fan boys will no doubt love it, but for the uninitiated it’s loud, tedious and, at 147 minutes, way too long.”

Getting Into Character: Megan Fox in Jonah Hex

Megan Fox in Jonah Hex

Although she was asked to gain weight for Transformers 2, it clearly looks as if Megan Fox’s waistline disappeared quickly.

In this picture, Fox is seen on the set of Jonah Hex, an adaptation of a DC Comics story. The Western features as a bounty hunter (Hex) and Fox as his gun-wielding love interest. John Malkovich will play a voodoo practitioner trying to raise an army of the undead that will liberate the South.

is scheduled for release on August 6, 2010.

Transformers 3 a Sure Thing

Transformers 2

**UPDATE: Michael Bay now claims the movie will come out in 2012, not 2011.**

Transformers 3 has been given a release date and officially put on a time table - the robotic movie will be coming to a theater near you on July 1, 2011. According to reports, however, that’s the only thing that’s official.

So far, Paramount and DreamWorks have nothing on paper with director Michael Bay or leading man and lady and Megan Fox. They haven’t even hired a scriptwriter. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, the second installment to the franchise, will be released on June 24, 2009.

Angelina Jolie - Lara CroftIt’s been confirmed: there will be a third Tomb Raider film. But don’t expect to see the franchise you’ve come to know with the new flick, for everything’s about to change in the world of Lara Croft.

For starters, Croft’s origins will be changed (the English aristocrat thing? That’s probably going to disappear). She’ll also have new love interests to woo and villains to fight.

Oh, yeah, and ’s not involved.

Though no one has officially been cast for the role, many are banking on . The Tomb Raider video game franchise has garnered over $1 billion worldwide, the two previous Tomb Raider films notwithstanding.

How to Lose Friends and Alienate People

Here are some possible suggestions for your upcoming weekend:

Rainn Wilson Joins Transformers 2

Although he claims he has not even seen a script, actor told MTV News he will have a small role in the sequel.

Other than the fact that he plays a professor ( will reportedly be entering college this time around), The Office star says he knows little else about the part. Wilson joked that he will play “a college professor that turns into a robot that then turns into a car.” At one point, it looked like Jonah Hill would also join the cast as Sam Witwicky’s roommate. Unfortunately, the Superbad actor turned the role down. (I’m guessing they’re going for a comedic theme?)

Transformers 2 - also starring Megan Fox and Josh Duhamel - is scheduled to begin filming this summer.

This Week on HD DVD and Blu-ray: October 16, 2007

Transformers HD DVDAs the autumn season pulls the coats from our closets, warms our chocolate beverages, and turns our leaves from a verdant green to a rusty orange, the movie studios give us another reason to spend a comfy evening at home: summer blockbusters on DVD. And what better way to view these visual—if not always plausible—delights than in high definition?

The coveted two-disc special edition of Transformers releases this week on HD DVD, much to the chagrin of Blu-ray loyalists; without a major exclusive release, they’ll simply have to make do with some mediocre thrillers.

But aside from the inferior cinematic fare, the first and second volumes of Showtime’s Masters of Horror series is out just in time for Halloween. The anthology show gives modern horror directors a full hour to play without the restrictions of an MPAA rating or television censorship. Although it failed to garner much critical acclaim, the show ended up being quite successful and achieved what some could perceive to be cult status.

Check out the full list of high-def releases after the jump.
