Jared Leto Hasn’t Seen ‘Dallas Buyers Club’

Jared Leto on the set of 'Dallas Buyers Club'Jared Leto hasn't seen Dallas Buyers Club.

The 42-year-old actor - who picked up Best Supporting Actor for his role as transsexual AIDS victim Rayon in the movie at Sunday's Oscars - plans to watch his work eventually, but wants to "leave it alone" at present because the project was such an "intense" experience.

"I have not seen the film yet. I think one day I will watch it, because, you know, I'll be curious at some point. But it was such an intense role. It's better for me to just leave it alone right now," he said while speaking on The Ellen DeGeneres show.

Jared appeared on the show just a few hours after getting home for the night, but wasn't upset at his lack of sleep because he had enjoyed celebrating so much: "I got in at -- I think the crack ass of dawn last night, maybe 6 o'clock, 5.30. Don't feel sorry for me, this is a time to revel in it, it's a sunrise you want to see. My mother, my brother were there and one of the highlights of the night was seeing my mom dance with Madonna. You meet all these amazing people last night, whether it was Jane Fonda or Liza Minnelli..."

Quote of the Day: Jared Leto on Why He Might’ve Turned Down ‘Dallas Buyers Club’

Jared Leto in 'Dallas Buyers Club'

"I think it probably made a really interesting aspect of the film, to have that connection and to have Rayon have one of his heroes be Marc Bolan. That’s great. Marc Bolan was an awesome person. But, for me, I made it very clear early on that I saw Rayon as a man who wanted to live his life as a woman, not someone who enjoyed putting on women’s clothing. If they wanted that kind of performance - or anything glam, or anything drag queen-y - I wasn’t the person for the part."

- Jared Leto speaks freely about how he didn't want to portray Rayon in Dallas Buyers Club, a role which one him an Oscar nomination this year.

Jared Leto Celebrates Oscar Nod with Vegan Pancakes

Jared LetoJared Leto is celebrating his Oscar nomination with vegan pancakes.

The 42-year-old star is over the moon at receiving a Best Supporting Actor nod for his portrayal of HIV positive transsexual Rayon in Dallas Buyers Club, however, his somewhat unremarkable plans to celebrate include going back to bed because the nominations - which were revealed at 5:38am Californian time today - were announced so early in the morning.

"I'm going back to bed and then wake up and make vegan pancakes. I thought I didn't get the nomination because I woke up and [mistakenly] thought it was getting light outside. But then I got a knock on the door from Emma Ludbrook, who produced [documentary film] Artifact with me," the newly-minted Oscar nominee quipped to The Hollywood Reporter.

Jared, who won a Golden Globe award for his performance on Sunday, will be in good company at the Oscars as his co-star Matthew McConaughey is up for Best Actor for his portrayal of AIDS victim Ron Woodroof.

Jared Leto Uncertain of Oscar Success

Jared LetoJared Leto doesn't believe "people like him" win Oscars.

The 30 Seconds to Mars frontman has been tipped for Academy Awards success for his role in Dallas Buyers Club - in which he plays a transsexual AIDS sufferer opposite Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Garner - but he doesn't expect to receive one of the prestigious accolades.

"It's nuts. They don't give Oscars to people like me!" he said.

The movie marks the 41-year-old star's first acting role since 2009's Mr. Nobody and Jared joked he was amazed he could still act. "I hadn't made a film in so long, I'm lucky I remembered how to act, to tell you the truth. I just dove in deep and did that best that I could," he said.

Despite his modesty, Jared is proud of the movie and the Oscar buzz it has generated: "It's surreal. It's so great. I'll tell you what - anybody that has anything negative to say about the process needs to see a doctor. There are much worse things to do than have your film supported and celebrated."

Cinecast: Leto Gets Really Method, Schwartzman Cast in ‘Jurassic World’?

Lynne Ramsay+ In order to really get a feel for his role as a trans woman in The Dallas Buyers Club, Jared Leto reportedly remained in character for the duration of production. In addition to meeting with people in the trans community, he waxed most of his body hair and learned to apply his own makeup. Perhaps his intense method will pay off in the end, as his performance has attracted some Oscar buzz already.

+ Four theaters in Sweden have applied and displayed the result of the Bechdel Test to their current screening films. Those that pass the test (achieved if the film features two female characters who talk about something other than a man) are screened on Sundays. It may not seem like a lot, but it's more than what we're doing here in the States for better female representation in film.

+ Rumors are going around that Jason Schwartzman is set to appear in the upcoming Jurassic World, which is a relaunch of the Jurassic Park franchise. Schwartzman's rep has yet to confirm (nor deny!) the claim.

Getting into Character: Matthew McConaughey in ‘The Dallas Buyers Club’

Matthew McConaugheyMatthew McConaughey has officially joined the likes of Christian Bale and Matt Damon, having shed 30 pounds (from his already svelte frame) for his role as Ron Woodroof in the upcoming film The Dallas Buyers Club.

Recently spotted at LAX, the star's gaunt look frightened onlookers.

"For me, it's more of a mental thing than a physical thing. I'll get down to the weight I need to get to. I'm on the way, and it's what I need to do for the job... It's a bit of a spiritual cleanse, mental cleanse. [I'm] drinking a lot of tea," he told Larry King in a recent interview.

McConaughey's character in the film plays an AIDS-ridden patient who cures himself with alternative medications from Mexico. Based on a true story, The Dallas Buyers Club also stars Jennifer Garner, who plays his doctor, and Jared Leto, in his first film role in four years. Directed by Canadian filmmaker Jean-Marc Vallée, the film is expected to be shot in New Orleans.

Box Office Breakdown: 21 Cashes In

21 Movie

Apparently it takes a movie about gambling to finally bring down a family-friendly film.

This past weekend, won big at the tables and brought in over $24 million dollars.  The movie - the third Kate Bosworth and Kevin Spacey have starred in together - survived less than stellar critical reviews to cash in over $9000 per theater.  (That average was tops for any move in the Top Ten.)  The new box office champ also pushed Horton and its $17.7 million into second place.

Further down the list, once again proved that audiences are not interested in purchasing tickets for pics about the war.  Is it because these films are far too political, or do people simply need a more light-hearted theme to escape with?  Whatever the reason, Loss entered the charts in a disappointing 8th place.  The Ryan Phillippe vehicle did earn a respectable $3500 screen average though.

Lindsay Lohan’s Star on the Rise?

Lindsay LohanOnce-troubled star is making positive Hollywood news again. The young actress will be starring opposite Jared Leto in Chapter 27, which opens this week, and has recently snagged the role of leading lady in Manson’s Girls.

Lohan will play Nancy Pittman in the film, a girlfriend of cult leader Charles Manson. Pittman remained a steadfast supporter of Manson throughout the multiple killings and Manson’s arrest. The movie will be told from Pittman’s point of view. Though the film has yet to begin shooting, there is already talk that the role could propel Lohan into an race - speculation which I think is a little strong at best.
