Jamie Dornan Cast as Christian in ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’

Jamie DornanOne English actor's discarded role is another Irish actor's treasure!

As Charlie Hunnam walked away from the coveted gig to portray Christian Grey in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey, Jamie Dornan has swiftly taken his place. The 31 year-old Once Upon a Time star was actually one of the first actors to be considered for the role before Hunam was officially cast.

The UK actor - who previously dated Keira Knightley - screen tested with Dakota Johnson last Friday for director Sam Taylor-Johnson, author E.L. James, and producers Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti. Sources also claim that Billy Magnussen and Francois Arnaud also tested with Johnson.

Negotiations with Dornan are currently underway, as the fimmakers are looking to start production in November.

Daniel Radcliffe Wasn’t Interested in ‘Fifty Shades’ Role

Daniel RadcliffeDaniel Radcliffe wasn't interested in being cast in Fifty Shades of Grey.

The Harry Potter star had no desire to play male lead Christian Grey in the film adaptation of E.L James' erotic novel and is pretty sure film fans didn't want him over Charlie Hunnam either, who has been cast in the role.

Speaking at the Toronto International Film Festival, he told MTV News, "I literally had someone say to me for the first time today, 'The world's in uproar you're not playing Christian Grey.' And I'm like, 'If this is uproar, it's inaudible.'"

The 23-year-old actor doesn't think he would have been able to convincingly portray the BDSM obsessed businessman character and it would have only hurt his career if he'd been cast. "I have to say, no offense to anybody, I'm sure they're going to do a great job on the movie, but it's not something that I think of would have been a good next step for me," he added.

Robert Pattinson Was Close to ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ Role?

Robert PattinsonRobert Pattinson was E.L. James' choice for Fifty Shades of Grey, according to Bret Easton Ellis.

He has claimed the author behind the erotic novel wanted the former Twilight Saga star to play the lead in the upcoming movie adaptation. "Talked to E.L. James at a party over the summer: her first choice for Christian was Rob Pattinson and Matt Bomer was never in the running," he wrote on Twitter.

The screenwriter - who penned the script for The Canyons - also said he drunkenly suggested porn star James Deen for the lead role after he impressed in the noir thriller. "When E.L. James asked me who I thought should be Christian I said, 'James Deen, of course,' and then she shoved me. We were both very wasted," he added.

Earlier today, it was confirmed that Charlie Hunnam has been cast in the role. E.L. James announced in a series of tweets: "Good moaning all. Hold on to your hats ... I am delighted to let you know that the lovely Dakota Johnson has agreed to be our Anastasia in the film adaptation of Fifty ... So... Christian... The gorgeous and talented Charlie Hunnam will be Christian Grey in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey. (sic)"

Aaron Taylor-Johnson Plans Career Around Family

Aaron and Sam Taylor-Johnson with their kidsAaron Taylor-Johnson and his wife Sam schedule their careers around their children.

The Kick-Ass 2 star says he and his 46-year-old spouse try to make sure at least one parent is available to look after their four daughters - including Wylda Rae, three, and 18-month-old Romy Hero, as well as two children from Sam's previous marriage - while the other is working.

"We travel as a family. We made a decision a long time ago that's how we're gonna do it. The last thing I wanna do is be separated from my wife and kids. It's important that one of us is with the kids," he said.

Aaron recently filmed a remake of Godzilla while Sam looked after the children, but now she has signed on to direct the eagerly anticipated big screen version of Fifty Shades of Grey, the 23-year-old actor will take a break from acting.

Emma Watson Doesn’t Want ‘50 Shades’ Role

Emma WatsonEmma Watson doesn't want to star in the upcoming Fifty Shades of Grey movie.

While the 22-year-old actress was reported to be the frontrunner to play the female protagonist Anastasia Steele in the film - which is based on E. L. James' best-selling erotic novel of the same name - Emma isn't interested in the movie.

"Who here actually thinks I would do 50 Shades of Grey as a movie? Like really. For real. In real life (sic)," she wrote on Twitter.

The role would be a huge departure from Emma's previous movies as Anastasia is the love interest of Christian Grey, the male protagonist of the book who introduces her to the world of bondage and kinky sex.

Keira Knightley was also linked to the movie but the Pirates of the Caribbean star was equally unenthusiastic about taking on the raunchy role. When asked if her next project will be a more risque literary adaptation than she has done in the past, she replied, "No, it's not. It's not going to be Fifty Shades of Grey. You know, I normally don't like to give a definite about anything, [but] I can definitely say it will not be Fifty Shades of Grey."

Kristen Stewart ‘Creeped Out’ by ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’

Kristen StewartKristen Stewart is "creeped" out by fans of the book Fifty Shades of Grey.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 star - whose boyfriend and co-star Robert Pattinson is being hotly tipped to secure the lead role of Christian Grey in the big screen adaptation - admitted that although she has only read a few pages of the erotic novel she finds it disturbing.

"I've skimmed parts of it. When I read the first few pages describing her messy hair, I was like, 'This is so strange.' But it's just so raunchy! I mean, obviously, everyone knows that. But when I see people reading it on planes and stuff, I'm genuinely creeped out. Like, you're basically just reading porn right now! Get that blanket off your lap!"

The actress's boyfriend of four years Robert Pattinson was considered a favorite to play the starring role in the film version of bestseller because the role is based on his character Edward in the Twilight Saga franchise. But according to new reports the British star may be too busy working on other projects to take on the role.

Elizabeth Olsen: ‘Women Need to Watch More Porn’

Elizabeth OlsenElizabeth Olsen thinks that women need to watch more porn.

The actress has ruled out taking on the lead role of Anastasia Steele, a young woman who is introduced to the world of bondage and kinky sex by manipulative billionaire Christian Grey, in the movie adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey, and thinks that its impact on society means people need to watch more porn.

"It's had a huge impact on society. Apparently rope sales have skyrocketed because women who've read the book are really getting into bondage, which is kind of great. It's such a taboo for women to actually discuss sexuality without the help of Cosmopolitan. All of a sudden, this book has become a sensation because the women reading it haven't had access to this kind of thing before. I was talking to a guy who was making a joke about it, saying, 'Clearly, these women just need to watch porn.' In a way, he's right."

While Elizabeth doesn't want the role, Emma Roberts recently revealed she would jump at the chance to star in the movie: "Everyone says read Fifty Shades of Grey. I don't really understand. But everyone on the plane was reading it, and I was like, 'I should probably just get it.' I haven't read it, I don't even understand, but yeah, it sounds awesome. Anything racy, hot. Sure, let's get hot."
