Chris Hemsworth ‘Disappointed’ by Schwarzenegger Comparisons

Chris HemsworthChris Hemsworth is "disappointed" by Arnold Schwarzenegger comparisons.

The Hollywood hunk wants to be seen as more than just an action film star and rejects comparisons with the Terminator actor.

"I got asked the other day, did you always want to be the next Schwarzenegger? I was really disappointed, like I thought, you know, that I'd chosen these scripts and loved them because they had real actors in them and real story and heart, and sometimes with films the action overshadows anything else. It was at a press conference and I looked around and thought, is someone going to defend me? Please!"

Comparisons with the actor-turned-politician stem from Chris's action film track record. The 28-year-old actor - who is currently starring in The Avengers alongside Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L. Jackson - believes his latest movie, Snow White and the Huntsman is "pretty dark" in parts: "It's certainly a big, summer... film, there are moments of fun and moments of action and also loads of tragedy and it's pretty dark."

Chris Hemsworth Was Apprehensive About Avengers Role

Chris Hemsworth as ThorChris Hemsworth was initially apprehensive about starring in The Avengers.

The actor admits he wasn't sure about taking on the role of Thor in the superhero ensemble movie because there were so many big names in it. "I kept getting asked beforehand who was going to be the biggest diva and who was going to manage all the egos," he said, speaking about the movie.

However, Chris had nothing to worry about and says everyone got on great as they were all there to make the best movie possible:

"I hadn't worked with any of the guys before and it was great. I don't know if they're normally like that but everyone was well behaved. There were no big egos. I think the days of that sort of attitude are gone because films nowadays rely a lot more on concept than on individual stars and it keeps everyone in check. The movie is about teamwork and because each of us had done our individual films, we had a strong idea of who the characters were, so all we had to do was put the pieces together rather than work out what our solo journey was. It was much easier than sharing the load."

Tom Hiddleston’s Avengers Hug

Tom Hiddleston and Chris Hemsworth in The AvengersTom Hiddleston felt like he was having a "group hug" on the set of The Avengers.

The British actor portrays his Thor' character Loki in the forthcoming Marvel comic book movie, and while the film's big cast - including Robert Downey Jr, Scarlett Johansson and Chris Hemsworth - was slightly intimidating at first, he admits the group got along famously quickly.

"For the first 10 minutes after you meet them, they have the wattage and charisma of movie stars. Then you have a coffee with them and you realize we're all the same, we're all just people. All of the actors in The Avengers are so nice. Marvel has these code names for projects and the code name for The Avengers was Group Hug. It felt very much like a group hug on set."

Tom - who is the villain of the film - admits his favorite part of the movie was getting to do his own stunts: "My favorite moment on set was filming at a NASA location the size of a cathedral. I flew around like a trapeze artist in a rocket-testing facility in the company of Samuel L. Jackson and Jeremy Renner. That was a pretty good day at work."
