Did Quantum of Solace‘s mixed reviews keep you from the theaters this weekend? If so, here are two trailers you might have missed.
First up, Watchmen. This clip for the Zack Snyder film gives us what the earlier teaser had been missing: a sampling of the characters’ voices. After watching the video, tell us what you think. Are the actors living up to your expectations? Or do you find the casting choices a bit disappointing?

The Politics of Star Trek

“I think a movie that shows people of various races working together and surviving hundreds of years from now is not a bad message to put out right now,” were the words of J. J. Abrams, director/producer of the upcoming Star Trek flick. “It was important to me that optimism be cool again,” he said in a recent interview.
This “We Are the Universe” sort of mentality might sound mushy, but let’s give the guy some slack. He does, after all, have a movie to promote. Everything’s gotta have an angle, and this one is a sight better than the Shater-Abrams feud that’s been filling the press.

Those lucky enough to have a ticket for this week’s Comic-Con gathering in San Diego will get their chance to own a new set of Star Trek posters. Four different portraits - Eric Bana (Nero), Zoe Saldana (Uhura), Chris Pine (Kirk) and Zachary Quinto (Spock) - were compiled to create the above image.

William Shatner Slighted By New ‘Star Trek’ Movie

In what can only be described as a dismal shame, William Shatner is being left out of the loop on the upcoming Star Trek motion picture. Shatner’s fellow cast mate, Leonard Nimoy, was attached to the project early and is set to reprise his role as Mr. Spock. Shatner expressed surprise to the Associated Press last week that he’s not in the movie at all. For shame. You can’t have Trek without Captain Kirk, people.
The new Trek harkens back to the well-loved original series and features Chris Pine as a young Kirk and Zachary Quinto as young Spock. Nevermind the fact that Kirk died in 1994’s Star Trek: Generations. Shatner is an icon of the scifi genre – if nothing else, he could appear as a holographic image.

Even More ‘Star Trek’ Casting News

Earlier this week we reported some big casting news for the upcoming Star Trek film. Actors John Cho and Simon Pegg were recently chosen for the roles of Sulu and Scotty, respectively.
Now we have word that two more actors have been lined up for the highly-anticipated Enterprise prequel. Chris Pine, who was recently seen in Just My Luck, has snagged the role of James T. Kirk. (Apparently you can find work after a Lindsay Lohan film.) Meanwhile, Karl Urban (The Bourne Supremacy) will be starring as Leonard “Bones” McCoy.
Production on the J.J. Abrams film should begin before the end of the year.
