Gypsy Remake Starring Barbra Streisand Canceled
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Adaptation, Remakes, Casting, Celeb News,
Barbra Streisand will no longer be playing Rose in the planned Gypsy film remake -- the movie’s no longer getting made.
Arthur Laurents, who wrote the book that inspired the original 1959 Broadway musical, has withdrawn rights permission for the film. He maintains that Barbra Streisand had nothing to do with his decision, but he never liked the 1962 film version of the story in the first place.
Streisand’s rep hasn’t commented on the sudden change in plans.

Barbra Streisand in Talks to Remake Gypsy
Sources say that Barbra Streisand has been approached to join the cast in the upcoming remake of Gypsy. Yes, dreams really do come true.
Streisand would play Rose, a role whose songs were written specifically for Broadway star Ethel Merman. Rosalind Russell, who was not known for her powerful singing voice, starred as Rose in the critically-acclaimed 1962 movie. In the film, Natalie Wood played the title role.
There’s no word on who could potentially play the character in the new version of the film.
Reports say that Barbra is working closely with producers in casting matters. Their choice for Rose’s love interest/talent manage Herbie? Tom Hanks.
Betcha didn’t see that one coming.

The 2010 Academy Awards: Live Commentary
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Awards,
When you throw in an extra host, add five more Best Picture nominees, take away the Best Song performances and nominate two formerly married directors—what do you get? A night that will surely be talked about.
Although many believe the 82nd Annual Academy Awards will end with very few surprises, the possibility of an upset is still too great to ignore. Will the box office champ (Avatar) win Best Film as well? Or will The Hurt Locker - or even Inglourious Basterds - take the prize? Is Jeff Bridges a shoo-in for Best Actor…or could BAFTA winner Colin Firth sneak past him? Will Sandra Bullock have to deliver another acceptance speech, or will Meryl Streep take home her first Oscar since 1983?
To find out if the ceremony ends in a world of Hurt or Up in the Air, stay tuned here for the live results!

Jessica Alba May Join Little Fockers
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Universal, Sequels, Comedy, Casting, Celebrity Gossip, Upcoming Releases,
Jessica Alba may be starring in the sequel to Meet the Fockers.
The 28-year-old actress is in negotiations to appear in Little Fockers, the third film in the popular Meet the Parents franchise. Producers want the Love Guru star to play a sexy pharmaceutical rep whose looks send the movie’s male characters crazy.
If she lands the role, Jessica will star alongside Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro, Dustin Hoffman, Owen Wilson and Barbra Streisand.
The new film will see Stiller’s hapless character Gaylord Focker and his wife welcoming a child, or possibly twins, into the world. The storyline is close to Jessica’s heart - she gave birth to Honor Marie, her first daughter with husband Cash Warren, 15 months ago.
