Trailer for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Warner Bros, Adaptation, Adventure, Science Fiction, Sequels, Trailers, Upcoming Releases,
Although I have watched every film in the series so far, I am admittedly not a die-hard Harry Potter fan. That said, the creepy trailer for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has me pretty excited for the 6th installment.
In this clip, we see the young boy (Tom Riddle) who’ll eventually become the evil Lord Voldemort. Those thinking the young actor resembles Ralph Fiennes should know that it’s not just a result of good casting. Hero Fiennes-Tiffin is actually Ralph’s nephew.
Half-Blood Prince hits theaters on
July 17.

Harry Potter’s Emma Watson Branching Out
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Drama, Period, Romance, Casting, Celeb News, Upcoming Releases,
Known to most of the world as Hermione Granger, Emma Watson has signed up to co-star in the upcoming flick Napoleon and Betsy.
The movie details the love affairs between a young girl (Watson, 18) and the former emperor, Watson’s first leading film role outside the Harry Potter franchise. The movie begins in 1815, when Napoleon was exiled to St. Helena. It was during this time the former leader of France met Betsy, daughter William Balcombe (who owned the estate where Napoleon was held). The affair between the two lasted for three years.
Betsy was originally set to be played by Scarlett Johansson, but she left when it became apparent the part would call for a younger actress. Watson is currently in production on the set of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and is scheduled to begin shooting Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows early next year. Sometime in-between she’ll get pinned into her big costumes for Betsy, as the film is slated for a 2009 release.

Final Harry Potter Book Will Become Two Movies
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Warner Bros, Adaptation, Drama, Family, Science Fiction, Upcoming Releases,
Even though J.K. Rowling put an end to the Harry Potter series with last year’s final book, the characters will be guaranteed life until 2011.
Although the adaptation for the sixth story (Harry Potter and and the Half-Blood Prince) is still currently in production, plans for the seventh novel have already been announced. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will actually spawn two separate films.
Instead of sacrificing parts of the 784-page tome to accommodate one installment, Warner Bros. will be stretching the series out into the next decade. (Think of it as their family-friendly version of Kill Bill.)
David Yates, the director behind Phoenix, will also be the one behind the last two chapters. He is currently working on getting Prince finished in time for the November 21 release date.

Will Madonna’s Daughter Join Harry Potter?
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Adventure, Family, Sequels, Casting, Celeb News, Celebrity Gossip, Upcoming Releases,
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix isn’t even out on video yet, and already talk has turned to the sixth movie installment for the franchise. Sneak peeks of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince are already surfacing, and the casting isn’t even complete.
According to the latest Hollywood-goes-to-Britain gossip, Madonna’s daughter, Lourdes, may soon don a witch’s robe; the 11-year-old is reportedly being sought to join the next Harry-themed movie.
Famed pop singer Madonna has made plenty of forays into the acting field herself, and while her roles in movies like The Next Best Thing and Desperately Seeking Susan were roundly bashed by critics, I still say A League of Their Own is a great movie (and she was pretty good in it, too). Maybe the movie success Madonna once sought will be discovered by Lourdes. Then again, maybe not.

Don’t let the “worst previews” name fool you - these two videos, while giving a fairly minimal look at the movie itself, show interesting bits of film production such as an evolution in the Potter costumes and the set design of Wool’s Orphanage. The Half-Blood Prince is slated to open a year from now, on November 21, 2008, and will see the return of all of the film’s principal actors. Click the link below to see the production videos.

J.K. Rowling: ‘Dumbledore Is Gay’
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Warner Bros, Adaptation, Adventure, Drama, Family, Science Fiction, Sequels, Rumors, Upcoming Releases,
Although author J.K. Rowling put the Harry Potter saga to rest this past July, she is still shocking devotees of the series with secrets to this day. At a reading Friday night in New York’s Carnegie Hall, Rowling was asked if Albus Dumbledore finds true love. She then revealed a juicy tidbit now ringing throughout the world: “Dumbledore is gay”.
Those who have read between the lines may have suspected this all along. Rowling equated Dumbledore’s affections for wizard Gellert Grindelwald as his ‘great tragedy’. The Hogwarts Headmaster, devastated by Grindelwald’s attraction to the dark side, later went on to defeat his rival.
Confusion about Dumbledore’s sexuality preference almost became an issue in the upcoming big screen installment, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Rowling made sure director David Yates remove a reference about Albus’ past loves from the adapted script.
Parents unfazed by the revealing news can bring their kids back to theaters in 2008 and 2010.
