Attention X-Files fans.  Was the trailer for The X-Files: I Want to Believe simply not enough for you?  Need something else to tide you over until this summer?  Well, you’re in luck. Here are some new pics from the upcoming sequel.

Although has tried to play the above photo off as a joke, I would like to believe that it is real.

A few more of the released scenes can be found after the jump.

Could There Be a Third X-Files Movie?

X-Files MovieIt seems repeating the new title enough times could get you more than one sequel.  It might get you two.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, said there’s a chance we’ll be seeing more of Fox Mulder and Dana Scully in the future.  If things work out favorably at this summer’s box office, the show’s creator would like to move forward with a third installment.  One that might possibly fare better with those who have been long-time devotees of the series.

While this upcoming release is intended to serve as a stand-alone feature, a new film would most likely touch on the alien abduction theme that was central to the FOX program.  But if fans would like to see that idea come to life, they must first support July 25’s debut of The X-Files: I Want to Believe.

X-Files Movie Name Revealed

X-FilesLast month, lucky attendees of the Paley Festival got a sneak peek of the new movie.  (You can get your own shaky view of that trailer here.)  Now we finally know what to call this highly-anticipated sequel: The X-Files: I Want to Believe.

Detail-oriented fans who can remember that far back (the series ended six years ago) may recognize that ‘Believe’ phrase from a poster in Mulder’s office.

In an interview with the AP, show creator explained the significance behind the title.  “It’s a story that involves the difficulties in mediating faith and science. `I Want to Believe.’ It really does suggest Mulder’s struggle with his faith.”

Those (like me) who couldn’t remember that slogan - or haven’t been introduced to the series at all - should not worry.  The movie was designed to serve as a stand-alone feature that will supposedly “satisfy everyone.”

Be ready for the mysteries to unfold this July 25.

New X-Files Trailer

We apologize for the less-than-perfect quality—the clip was shot by a die-hard fan last night at the Paley Festival in Los Angeles.  The trailer was introduced by creator Chris Carter himself.

Be prepared to start believing again when returns on July 25.

‘X-Files’ Movie Slated for July 2008

X-FilesJuly 25, 2008.  That date will be personally significant to me but globally significant to fans everywhere.  Although my husband should be taking me out to dinner to celebrate our 4-year wedding anniversary, I sense that evening will be spent in a movie theater instead.  After all—how often does an film come around?

After years of rumors and denials, what had been looking like a pipe dream is now becoming a reality.  , and creator have finally gotten their acts together and jointly committed to the long-awaited X-Files .  Production is scheduled to start in December in time for the Summer 2008 release date.

Although the cult series only ended in 2002, it has been a whopping ten years since Fox Mulder and Dana Scully were last seen on the big screen.  While the new film is meant to be a ‘stand-alone’ feature, I suspect DVD rentals of the series and movie will spike sometime around June of next year.  I know I could use a bit of refreshing myself; the only thing I remember about the first pic were the bees.  Lots of them.
