Snape Named Best Loved Harry Potter Character

Severus Snape has topped a poll to find the best loved Harry Potter character.
The wizard - played by Alan Rickman - received over 500 more votes than Harry's best pal Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint), who finished in second place and the titular character who placed third in the poll on Empire magazine's website.
"Snape is a truly great character, multi-layered and surprisingly complicated under that straggly black haircut. He's especially good in the film because of the way that Alan Rickman infuses him with malice and menace. He seems capable of anything - and indeed he is, in the end, but in a way you never expected. While Harry, Ron and Hermione may seem more heroic, Snape is definitely JK Rowling's most important and complex character," commented Empire's Deputy Online Editor, Helen O'Hara.
Harry's close pal Hermione Granger (Emma Watson) and his godfather Sirius Black (Gary Oldman) complete the top five.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part 2 is out in theaters now!

Terminator Sequel More Family-Friendly

In hopes of broadening their movie’s audience, the producers of Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins have announced they’re aiming for a PG-13 stamp. This move would be a departure from the first three installments which were all rated R.
Devotees of the series might find this bit of news a little upsetting. Would a dialed-down film also mean a watered-down Terminator? Meanwhile, younger fans of the FOX series are probably thrilled by this announcement. Now they’ll get to follow along on the big screen.

Review: ‘Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street’

I just got back from the midnight showing of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Previously, I had seen the original Broadway cast perform this show via video cassette tape in my “History of Theater” class. I also saw a very stripped down version of the show performed by a national touring cast without sets or costumes. This film was every bit as good visually, musically and narratively as either one of those shows. For those of you who are unaware of the plot, let me catch you up.
Benjamin Barker (Johnny Depp) is a happily married man with a beautiful yellow-haired wife and a bouncing bay girl living in ye olde London. A man by the name of Judge Turpin (Alan Rickman) takes a liking to Barker’s wife and frames him for a crime which he is convicted and exiled for. Upon Barker’s return to London years later, he finds that his wife is dead and his little girl is being held hostage by the evil Turpin. Hell bent on revenge, and now going by the name Sweeney Todd, Barker takes up residence above Mrs. Lovett’s (Helena Bonham Carter) Meat Pie shop. There, the trained barber kills his customers in hopes that one day it will be the Judge’s turn for a shave.
Oh yeah, and the bodies get baked into the pies.
