We’ve got spoilers on villainous activity, straight from a cast member, of The Amazing Spider-Man, a re-boot of the film franchise. C. Thomas Howell, whose career has been fairly quiet since he played Ponyboy Curtis in The Outsiders, spilled some pretty big secrets.

Howell plays “a construction worker whose son is caught in the middle of a battle between the Lizard and Spider-Man on the Manhattan bridge.” First spoiler! The Lizard is in the film. In the world of Spider-Man comics, Lizard first appeared in issue #6. His powers include an amazing regenerative ability, a 6-foot tail with super strength and razor-like claws. He was a former field surgeon with the US Army who lost a limb during the war. Eventually, Peter Parker cures him.

But, back to the movie. C. Thomas Howell had much more to reveal. “Part of the story is, the nation thinks [Spider-Man] might be a bad guy. They don’t know what to think. Because of my experience on the bridge… I know he is a good guy. I pitch in and help out at the end. That is the best way.” Sounds like an exciting series of action sequences, and we're stoked about seeing the Lizard's costume.

The Amazing Spider-Man will come to theaters July 3, 2012.
