Although James Cameron seemed genuinely pleased for his ex-wife, there was one person who wasn’t happy about Kathryn Bigelow’s Academy Awards success: .

In a Brazilian interview to promote Cameron’s move, the actress said Bigelow’s gender was the reason why she nabbed the first Best Director prize ever for a female director.

Oh, but the bitter remarks did not stop there. The three-time Oscar nominee also went on to say that Bigelow’s film shouldn’t have taken home the Academy Award for Best Film either.

“In the past, would have won because they [Oscar voters] loved to hand out awards to big productions, like Ben-Hur. Today it’s fashionable to give the Oscar to a small movie that nobody saw,” she claimed.

Okay - so let me see if I understand this correctly. Did Avatar deserve to win simply because it was a big production (in that case Transformers 2 should have been considered), or was undeserving because nobody saw it? Sounds like a pretty screwed up answer either way, Sigourney.
