Sequel News: Paranormal Activity, The Hangover and More

Scream 4: The Scream series is known for killing off beautiful young starlets, so the the fourth installment should make no exceptions. So far Emma Roberts and Hayden Panettiere have both been confirmed for Scream 4. Roberts will play Sidney Prescott’s cousin while Panettiere has reportedly been cast as the best friend. The film will premiere on April 15, 2011.

X-Men: First Class: Wanted star James McAvoy has been selected to portray a young version of Patrick Stewart in X-Men: First Class. The prequel, which will focus on the formative years of Charles Xavier/Professor X (McAvoy) and Eric Lehnsherr/Magneto, will be directed by Kick-Ass’ Matthew Vaughn. Fox’s actioner will hit theaters on June 3, 2011.

Paranormal Activity: Although a sequel has already been planned for 2007’s Paranormal Activity, it’s still not clear if the story will somehow involve the original’s two characters. “I don’t know. I’m waiting to hear,” actress Katie Featherston recently said about the Michael R. Perry-penned script. “If they had a way to put me in there in a way that would be reasonable and make sense — I don’t know how they’d do that — I’d definitely be down for it. If I get that phone call, I will be there. I will be scared or happy or whatever they want me to be.” Hopefully someone gets that call soon. The movie is already scheduled to open on October 22 of this year.

Journey to the Center of the Earth: Premiere dates have finally been announced for several Warner Bros. sequels. Next year’s releases include Journey to the Center of the Earth 2 (Sept. 23), Sherlock Holmes 2 (Dec. 16), The Hangover 2 (May 26) and Happy Feet 2 (Nov. 18).
