Pitt, Novak, and Roth Line Up For Bastards

Tarantino confirms casting for Inglorious Bastards

UPDATE: Funnyman Mike Myers has also been recruited! You can find the details here.

As promised, Quentin Tarantino has definitely not stopped working on his epic WWII film, Inglorious Bastards, ever since he completed the script. After years of speculation concerning casting, a few of the roles have recently been confirmed (finally).

What came as quite a shock to most (considering Tarantino’s usual taste in actors), Hollywood heavyweight Brad Pitt was cast as the lead role of Jewish soldier Aldo Raine. Then again, it is only appropriate that Pitt play a part in a real Tarantino film, considering he had a minor role in Oliver Stone’s Natural Born Killers.

While many (myself included) were fairly certain that Tim Roth was set to land a role in his buddy’s war saga, Quentin gave us a nice surprise when he decided to cast that other Roth, Eli, as Donnie Donowitz. As an actor, the Hostel director hasn’t had many major film roles to date; let’s just hope that his best friend will guide him in the right direction. I mean, he does know what he’s doing, right?

Lastly (and perhaps the most out there surprise), Tarantino turned to comedic television for PFC Utivich via B.J. Novak of The Office. Despite the fact that his only serious role to date was in the September 11th drama Reign Over Me, I trust that the Harvard grad will deliver.

Filming for Inglorious Bastards is slated to begin this October in Berlin.

Honestly, I still am crossing my fingers for a Tim Roth and/or Michael Madsen cameo! It really can’t be a Tarantino flick without one or the other!
