It’s On…

Posted by Stuart Maxwell Categories: Upcoming,

We promised at the end of Seattle Mind Camp 1.0 that we would hold another gathering within six months.  So I know everyone out there has been waiting patiently for an announcement, wondering what the heck was going on, and whether SMC2 was actually going to happen.  As you can see from the previous post, though, it’s now finally official:  Seattle Mind Camp 2.0, noon to noon, April 29th to 30th, 2006.

W00t, as the kids say!

21 Days to Go

Now, if you’re like me (and if you’re not…well, why aren’t you more like me?), you’re looking at that date and thinking… can they really pull this off in that short amount of time?  And I’m here to tell you:  Yes.  Yes, WE can.

The thing that put a kink in the works of getting 2.0 off the ground was the venue search.  Due to entirely understandable circumstances, the building we used last time became unavailable just as we were on the verge of announcing the date, throwing us into a bit of a scramble.  We were actively looking for space, so we couldn’t call things off, but we also couldn’t make any announcements.  Aargh!

I think all the hair-pulling will be worth it, though, because SMC2 will be held at the newly-opened Youngstown Cultural Arts Center in West Seattle.  I’ll be blogging more about the Center in the next couple of weeks, but suffice it to say that we couldn’t have found a more perfect spot to symbolize the community, connection, and entrepreneurial spirit that Seattle Mind Camp represents.  I’m thrilled with our new venue, and I think you’ll like it, too.

Our extended scouting period left the planning committee with a short time to pull everything together, but we think that, with your help, we can make it happen.  Seattle Mind Camp, after all, is really created by all of you… the best brains in the Greater Seattle Area… nay, the entire world!  For those of you who know how great the November event was; here’s your chance to make SMC2 even better.  Our priorities are to 1) get as many registrations as possible as soon as possible, and 2) build the buzz.

Here are some things you can do to help:

If you’ve got any questions or ideas for SMC2, please leave a comment here or .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or Andru Edwards (or anyone else on the planning committee.)

So there you go.  We’ve got 21 days to make this happen.  In 21 days, you’ll have the opportunity to connect with other smart, passionate people.  You’ll have a chance to show off what you’re working on to people who’ll get it.  You’ll have a chance to discover things that are happening right here in your own community that you never imagined.  You’ll have a chance to connect with the best brains in Seattle… nay, the entire world!

What will you make of it?

How many people are going to be allowed to register for this event?

I think we’re capping it at 250, but don’t hold me to that.

Blazer - I’ll try to do a post with more details about what we’re doing here.  in the meantime, the wiki is probably the best place to learn more.  Just click the wiki tab up there and start reading the last item on the front page.
