OHSO Marko Pocket Toothbrush System Review

When a non-electric toothbrush calls for a product review, you know something about it has to be special, right? Well, just trust us. We have taken the OHSO Marko travel toothbrush and put it through the paces to show what a little ingenious, outside-the-box thinking can add to a practice that we didn’t expect to see much innovation come in to. If you ever have to go somewhere where you think you might need your toothbrush, we tell you why the OHSO is the only solution you will ever need to that problem.

Okay, so, first things first. The packaging of the OHSO toothbrush is almost Apple-esque in its nature. What we mean by that is, rather than bombarding you with all the features of the product strewn about the box, they opted to use an image of the product itself, along with the logo. It gets the job done, making you feel that what is inside has got to be more than just a regular toothbrush.

Opening up the box displays all the contents. What we liked here is that everything you need to get started, including toothpaste, is included. You get the OHSO toothbrush, a travel-size tube of Colgate, a universal toothbrush adapter, and a replacement brush head (in addition to the one already attached to the unit.) Holding the OHSO in your hands, you instantly start to wonder why it has taken so long for something like this to be made available. It is just a great idea. Two odd things to note though - first, the OHSO has a belt clip embedded into it’s cap. We know, it is a toothbrush for people on the go, but are people really planning on affixing this thing to their belt? Secondly, if you hold the unit with the belt clip facing away from you, the OHSO looks eerily similar to a “female pleasure toy.” Then again, maybe that is the reason for the belt clip in the first place.

Usability is where the OHSO shines. To get started, you remove the cap and unscrew the toothbrush head from the base. In it’s place, you screw in your tube of toothpaste, and start turning the rubber grip at the bottom. As you do this, the OHSO base sucks the toothpaste from the tube, and into the toothpaste compartment. Using the travel sized Colgate that came with the unit, it took about half of the tube to fill the paste compartment. You then reconnect the brush head, and you are set. Turning the rubber grip pushes the toothpaste up through the system, similar to the way you would turn the knob on a bar of deodorant. The cool thing here is that the brush head has a tunnel it in, so as you dispense the toothpaste, it comes out right into the bristles. You can dispense just a little at a time for each part of your mouth, or dispense a normal amount for standard tooth brushing. When your teeth are clean, the OHSO cap also doubles as a rinse cup, providing about a mouthful or two of water. Once done, a quick rinse of the brush head is all it takes, and you are ready to keep on with your busy lifestyle.

At a price of $20 USD, you really can’t go wrong here. The product is simple in design, but that is because it doesn’t need to be complex. Since we travel to various conferences across the US, we always need to remember our toothbrush/toothpaste. With the OHSO, all we need to remember is one gadget, and we are set. It works like a charm - we really can’t say anything negative about it.
