Make My Day DVDA few weeks ago we had the pleasure of viewing Make My Day. A creation of Hidden Frame Productions, Make My Day reminds us of those Choose Your Own Adventure books we enjoyed as younglings, as the premise is that you take the main character and guide him through his day using choices presented to you. While just about every scenario results in the death of the main character, the numerous ways that he dies had us laughing out loud. For only $15 USD, this one is definitely a great gift or stocking stuffer for anyone with even a slight sense of humor.

We must admit - the time we have spent with any Vaja product we have been able to get our hands on has been a joy. The craftsmanship behind these cases is top notch, and in our experience, can’t be beat. We recommend these two cases in particular:

i-Vod Video

The Vaja iVod is a great case, and the company has just announced the i-Vod Video for the new video iPod. It protects the iPod, and is one of the few protective cases that is actually visually appealing. Many will find this product to be perfect, as it protects the screen, and has an option to even protect the click wheel as well. Expect to pay at least $70, but part of that high cost is the Vaja Choice customization options, which is a great service. Check out our

review of the 4th generation iVod DJ here.

iVolution PSP Case

The i-Volution is the ultimate PSP case in terms of design and protection. It is lightweight, but firm enough to protect the PSP when in a backpack, or even if dropped a few feet. The leather looks and feels spectacular as well. This product is solid. The only downside would be price. $180 USD can get you a lot of things in terms of games and accessories. This one is for the elite - if you want to show off a little, this is the thing to get. You can read our full review of the PSP i-Volution here.

This product really was a pleasant surprise. Most of the things we review at Gear Live are gadgets with interesting or fun gimmicks that make them must-haves or horrible failures. The thing about the SLEEPTRACKER is that it doesn’t provide anything “fun” or “cool” per se. Instead, they have developed a product that actually improves your quality of life. Waking up fully energized on a daily basis is just amazing. It is almost as if there is no lost time, and you just want to seize the day. The product did exactly what it said it would do, and because of that, it gets our highest honor. This one comes very highly recommended. Check out our full review of the SLEEPTRACKER here.

We like the GameDr. Motorized UMD Cartridge Cleaner because it is simple to use, and it provides a nice solution to the difficult task of cleaning your PSP discs. For $20 USD, this ultra-portable stocking stuffer cleans dust, dirt, and fingerprints from your UMD discs in a very ingenious way. The UMD hooks on to the cleaner using a magnet, and a piece of cloth aligns perfectly into the notch on the underside of any UMD game or movie. We put up a video, which you can see above, so you can see how it looks in motion.

While it is expensive, the SCOTTeVEST Milan makes a huge statement that justifies its price of entry. This jacket is the top of the line in portable entertainment gear. Unlike all the gadgets you will be carrying around, this piece of technology doesn’t make you look like a geek. Instead, we received numerous compliments on how great the jacket looked at our recent Mind Camp event. Think of it as the ultimate carrying case for any portable you own. That being said, remember that we have a coupon code for 20% off all SCOTTeVEST orders through December 25th, 2005. If you spring for the Milan, that will get you $90 off with free shipping. Just head on over to the Milan product page to pick one out, and use coupon code “GEARLIVE” during checkout to get your discount. You can check out our full review here.

Now, if you just can’t afford the Milan, the next best thing would be the SCOTTeVEST Rodeo. It is almost a carbon copy of the slick Milan, but in walnut-colored microsuede. This one has 39 pockets, and has all of the new SCOTTeVEST 4.0 features, such as the Detachable Cargo Cache Plus, and tons of magnetic closures, as well as the patented Personal Area Network. The SCOTTeVEST Rodeo is an affordable $199 USD - or just $159 after using our coupon code during checkout.

If you want something nice, but can’t afford the Milan or Rodeo, the 237D sells for just $159.99. Use our exclusive SCOTTeVEST coupon code “GEARLIVE” and you save $32, playing less than $130 USD. iPod videoSteve Jobs has done it again, and has come out with a product that is simply selling a ton. The new iPod is available in 30GB and 60GB models and has a wider 2.5-inch color 320x240 TFT screen. Apple is also making the new standard iPod available in what we like to call “nano Black.” Aside from the standard iPod fare, this one has the ability to play MPEG-4 and H.264 encoded video. The price point is not too shabby here either, with the 30GB model costing $299 (holding 75 hours of video) and the 60GB model hitting $399 (holding 150 hours of video.) The new iPods are thinner than the previous models, with the 30GB being 31% thinner than the 20GB iPod, and the 60GB version being 12% thinner than the 20GB iPod. SonyEricsson W800The SonyEricsson W800 is a bargain even at $500, with an impressive feature set and far better styling than the Motorola ROKR - without tying users to specific software. With all of the major features, it’s the little features that truly impress.  Animated menus and Themes are a nice touch, as is the ability to set up recurring alarms for specific days of the week.  The phone is SyncML compatible, so it syncs up nicely with most standard software that uses the format.  There is a sound recorder, a fully-functional Voice Control, and a decent WAP 2.0 browser. Finally, it’s important to note that the battery life of the W800 is fantastic.  It’s possible to go for several days on a single charge with moderate phone and MP3 usage.  This is all coming from a battery smaller in size than a CompactFlash card, and is truly amazing.  Frequent travelers will be happy to know that you can turn off the radios in the phone and use the MP3 player alone. Check out our full review here.

CanaryWireless Digital Hotspotter

Walking around, it was way more convenient to break out the Digital Hotspotter with the one-button operation and all. No need to stop, open up the PowerBook, and search for a signal. However, we found another nice benefit. Since the Hotspotter tells you the channel of any network you are near, you can use this to your advantage in your home. If you find a neighbor is on channel 1, and another is on channel 3, you know to set yours up near 11 to reduce interference. This is one device we are recommending to anyone that uses Wi-Fi. It’s simple - but it’s that good. You can pick one up for about $60 USD, and the batteries last for about two months. Check out our full review here.
