TMNT ScreenshotFollowing the look and feel of the upcoming CG-based Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, Ubisoft will be developing a partner game, given the creative tentative name of TMNT. Specific consoles haven’t been named yet for the release, but Ubisoft states that it will be for “next gen” systems.

The game will feature acrobatic navigation through cityscapes, a flexible combat engine, and cooperative moves that allow the turtles to each use their special powers. The game looks a lot like a faster-moving version of the recent 3D Prince of Persia games (also made by Ubisoft), which is probably due to the fact that the game is in early development and may be based on the PoP engine. Still, if TMNT just plays like an updated, next-gen Prince of Persia, then we may be looking at one of the better games in the TMNT lineage.

A teaser movie for the game is available via the link below and features some clips of preliminary gameplay footage.

First Valve goes and blows our mind with the Portal teaser, and now they’ve got a new way to keep us salivating. Scant days after releasing a teaser image for Team Fortress 2, Valve now has a full trailer for the game, available through YouTube.

Comparisons could definitely be made between the art style in Team Fortress and the characters in The Incredibles, and that’s definitely not a bad thing. The characters are stylized but not overly cartoony (i.e. no Windwaker shocks here, thank goodness). The complete trailer for the game is purported to be running off the in-game engine, with only minor special effects added during certain sequences.

Portal Screen captureTake your plain vanilla FPS, add a goey dollop of gravity gun, and then top it off with the mother of all cherries—a gun that allows you to create portals in space anywhere—and you’ve got a mind-hemmoraghing sundae of FPS bliss. Don’t believe us? Just play the video below and sit back as your brain explodes.

Portal, to be released for the PC, equips you with a gun that creates rips in space that you can travel between. Want to get to the other side of a ravine? Just shoot a portal at the wall on either side, and it’s as simple as walking across. Want that box to hit an enemy and kill them? Shoot a portal above the enemy, shoot a portal under the box, and watch him get clobbered. Want to create an infinite loop? Shoot a portal at the ceiling, shoot a portal at the floor, and watch as you fall forever. But, as always a picture is worth a thousand words, and a 2 minute 22 second video at 24 frames-per-second is thus worth about 3,408,000 words. So just click the link below and watch!

A trailer is now out for LEGO Star Wars: The Original Trilogy.  The trailer definitely showcases the fun factor of the LEGO Star Wars games and makes me want to find a copy of the first LEGO Star Wars.  The game is set for a September 12th release on all platforms except the Wii.

PSP Advertisement

Sony seems to be hiring a lot of edgy marketers over in the UK, and their advertisements for the PSP have been taking a lot of heat recently. Sony had 45 complaints filed against it for its original PSP ads, which said things like “Strong language and scenes of a sexual nature here”, “Your girlfriends white bits here”, and my vote for the worst “Take a Running Jump Here”, which was placed next to some subway tracks.

Evidently Sony wasn’t fazed by this negative press, as they’ve gone ahead and started posting the ad above (currently spotted in the Netherlands), which features a white woman aggressively handling a black woman and looming over her as an advertisement for the white PSP. I think most folks would agree that the ad is a little bit distasteful. But hey, at least they didn’t go so far as to have anyone dressed in KKK garb (yet).

Perhaps Sony is taking to heart the mantra that any press is good press, but I wonder how long it might be until they start alienating some of their potential customers.

The good folks over at GoNintendo.com have posted some videos from the recent demos over in Spain. Watch someone actually play WarioWare and look like a doofus doing it!! (Which is, of course, half the fun…I’m really looking forward to this game).

Overall, the controls appear to be quite responsive to each of the different actions. Of course, the controller can pick up major shakes and slices, but the part where he twists the key in the door would appear to require a very fine level of resolution. Also, there are some micro-games on display here that use the pointer functionality, and they appear to do quite well also. Really, this just makes me want to get my hands on the controller again. For those of us that couldn’t make it to E3, we can only hope that Nintendo continues bringing this show on the road and spreading the good word of the Wii!

Dead Rising Screenshot

Gamespot was able to get some hands on time with a new demo of Dead Rising, which allowed for more in-game exploration.  Dead Rising places you into the shoes and behind the camera lens of Frank West, a photo-journalist who is investigating a zombie infestation in Willamette, Colorado.  In-game skills are acquired through taking photos of dramatic events, with extra points being given for catching survivors in extreme distress.  The demo has provided new information on the weapons that Frank can use, as well as loads of videos and screen-shots.
Dead Rising hits shelves in the US on August 6th and in Europe on September 15th.

Frontline Fuel of War screenshot

Kaos Studios, the company developing Frontline Fuel of War, has made available the trailer which was shown at E3.  Fuel of War is a FPS set for release in the Fall of 2007 and is being published by THQ.  The game will be available on the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. Judging from early screen shots it looks impressive.

Game Overview:

Set in a fictional near future based upon the headlines of today, FFOW brings players into the world’s next great war.  As society succumbs to a worldwide energy crisis, a new global depression takes hold.  Amidst this gritty backdrop two superpower alliances emerge.  Join the battle on the frontlines of tomorrow as the Western Coalition (U.S./E.U.) or the Red Star Alliance (Russia/China).

Sadly the release date of 2007 underscores the shortage of next gen games available for play this summer or even this year.

Halo 3 Trailer DocumentaryLast week Bungie confirmed that a documentary about the making of the Halo 3 E3 trailer was forthcoming.  Today they released the video which is available on Bungie.net in QuickTime and Windows Media formats including HD versions.  Surprisingly the documentary is not currently available for download on the Xbox Live Marketplace.  Included in the documentary are new angles and scenes, a feature on making the music for the trailer, along with “hints of things to come”.  The video also features Bungie employee reactions to the end of Halo 2 and humorous comments about the development process.

The most notable quote comes from Martin O’Donnell, aka Marty, “We want this to be the return of the king.  We want this to be the final chapter in an epic trilogy.”
