Nintendo Knocks Out E3 Competition

Revolution

The entire buzz coming out of E3 has centered on the new Nintendo Wii console, and its magic stick…er, the vibrating remote and controller. While the other two big players, Microsoft and Sony, mainly introduced systems that are basically the same as their previous models—just faster and bigger—Nintendo KO’d the competition by introducing a truly innovate gaming experience. And the lower price point didn’t hurt either. To Microsoft’s credit, the Xbox 360 had already upped the ante. But sometimes it’s the one calling a bluff that takes our collective breath away.

i just dont get wii they have to give it such a stupid name.

Before E3, I had no hope in Nintendo... After E3, I am 100% with them, aside from the obviously nonsensical name, I really enjoy what the console has to offer...now for a price.

I'm very excited. I not only think the system has a lot to offer, but I can't wait to play Zelda on it. Zelda alone makes it worth it to me.

Price is very cheap something like ?133 but the controiller is retarded.

Okay, I admit that the name is kind of dumb, and I much preferred "Revolution", but the Wii is starting to grow on me. So far I really like how small it is, the colours it comes in, and also the reviews of the system are pretty impressive. It will also be much cheaper than buying a PS3. I just hope the Wii will have a large game selection. That's where the Gamecube falls flat.

Well it depends if by larger you mean: a gigantic pool of NES/SNES/N64/Genesis/TurboGraph :) But yeah, although the price hasn't been "official" yet, they did say the max would be $250..so the less the better, but at that price, you're not going to "loose" much if there's not that many games for it.

As far as game selection...since the N64 platform, Nintendo seems to have a real problem providing a wide selection of games, not to mention releasing games on time or even on the promised platform. If you're hoping for a large game selection, I think you'll be disappointed. However, it's pretty much guaranteed that the available games will be truly great. :)

I think the Wii is gonna be great! I think the controller is awesome, really why do you need 2 hands to play a game. I think the idea of a one handed controller is great. I think that they need to make sure there are plenty of games you don't need to jump around to play. Women and children won't mind it so much, but most grown men won't want to jump around and flail their arms to play a game.

I definetly like the one handed controller. Gaming is such a pleasure to me and I have to confess I've wondered what on earth I would do if I only had one hand. FOR REAL!!!
