I think my computer recently crashed, a blue screen pops up and it dumps my physical memory, I was wondering if i could take out my harddrive and stick it into another computer and backup the files i needed and then reinstall my OS?

Absolutely..

Also, if youre talking Windows here, you could attempt a repair via the install CD. Just boot from it, and follow the prompts.

A few people i asked at my school say it is not possible since i have to reformat or format that harddrive first thus making me lose my info anyways. My computer is a dell and im going to be sticking that harddrive into an Acer.

My whole purpose is to just save all of my precious information, then reinstall windows.. anymore help would be appreciated.  😢

when inserting that hard drive, make sure u set it as slave, otherwise your machine may attempt to boot of it and XP wont run even if the blue screen was fixed because of WPA. Also note, if you have an encrypted Filesysytem, you cant get back ur data.

You don’t have to reformat the HD, just put it in another comp as slave.
