installing things isn’t complicated once you know what you’re doing :-D

Mandrake and SuSe are just different…. use them, and you’ll see

I have stuck with SuSe cause YaST is AMAZINGLY helpful.

As some of you may know, 9.2 is now available for download via FTP. Has anyone succesfully set it up? I keep getting an error about the media not being correct when it comes to installing the packages. :(

Suse, Mandrake, Redhat all locked up on me when installing. I eventually got mandrake running, but in the end, i ended up removing it. Personally, Linux is just not as user friendly as Windows is. If u want the Linux experience, get a MAC.

If you want a user-friendly *UNIX* experience, get a mac. 😊

Darwin, the OS, and layer that the pretty eye candy runs on top of them is more similar to *BSD which is a descendant of System V UNIX by AT&T/Bell Labs.

Linux has some System V likenesses, but is very different inside.

I’m not knockin your post, just tryin to spread the knowledge 😉

Also, anyone who has Unix/Linux related questions, feel free to shoot them this way.

The problem about the media not being correct means there could have been crc errors in the images, or the media is actually bad. Always use an MD5 checker when downloading images.

Re download, burn at a slower speed. Just a thought, worked for 9.2 pro for me.

Thanks guys. Actually I installed Mandrake. I didn’t really like it and was able to install Suse 9.2 from an FTP mirror I found that was fast. So it’s all good.  😊

What is the difference between Mandrake and SuSE?

I am sort of a linux newbie, trying to find out which is the best.  I used SuSE 9.1, but I find installing things is complicated.
